***The "Darth Editous" Episode IV DVD Info and Feedback Thread*** - a partially "de-specialed" DVD — Page 40

The idea comes from the ESB ROTJ Wishlist thread.

Basically to separate Yoda's death scene from Ben's ghost's chinwag with Luke and have them happen at different times on different worlds.

Yoda dying near the beginning of the film after giving Luke as full a training as he can (so he doesn't hang on for over a year only to die in the middle of a conversation).

And Ben appearing to Luke on Tatooine just before he sets out to rescue Han and Leia (who at this point has botched her own inpatient rescue).

Putting Ben's completion of his telling of the Tragick Historie Of Anakin Skywalker  in the same place he started it (bookending the scene in ANH) may give the scene a missing resonance.

Being a place more closely bound in Luke's memory with the man would also explain how Ben's ghost does less spectral things like sitting down and imply the un-filmed scene of the building of his new lightsaber without actually showing it.

I can see that the idea may not appeal to everyone but it's something I would like to see and/or attempt to do.

I think most of the stuff on the wishlist (that included) will remain a wish!

Now, has this shot always been squished?

Or is the Death Star so mahoosive it warps time and space (and colour)?

Nice!!!

In fact DS is Unicron. Just that ;)

I was wondering DE in the CC process in the DS trench shots we see some green tones at the far sides of the walls. Its in the SE dvds plus in ady's Revisited edition. Will you fix them?

Damn right I will. I think I fixed some of the worst examples in previous versions.

Another clip (which isn't currently working for me, damn YouTube):

There are two differences to spot (three if you count the fact that I haven't sorted out the sky colour yet).

Would anyone mind giving a rating (a truthful one!) to these other videos? They're the only two of mine that have no ratings, and they're feeling left out:

Okay, can someone who's into schematics and stuff tell me, is the Death Star supposed to be a sphere, or an ovoid? In every shot it's about 10% off being a circle. Either way, I plan on making it perfectly spherical where I can.

Trust your instincts, reach out with your feelings.

It looks much better as a sphere, your rendering looks more like how it looks in my head when I think about it than the version that's been kicking around for all these years.

In fact it makes the Star Destroyer look more correct too.

I think it was just squished to fit the frame.

Rated 5 stars David..

Btw Ive noticed that in wipe there is some frames that have less contrast..

Also Tie fighters have less contrast from space.

If by "less contrast" you mean the blacks aren't quite as black, that's down to the gamma correction I've applied to the whole movie. It's way too dark on DVD - see how much clearer the starfield is in the top shot.

Maybe you mean that the left hand side of the picture is a little "greyed" at the start of the wipe - it's like that on the DVD, but my brightener has brought it out a bit more. I may try to fix it, but a lot of the wipes have problems like that.

DE, the original Death Star model is definitely not a sphere. I've been following a thread over on the Replica Prop Forum, where this guy is building a full-size Death Star prop. It was definitely established that it's an ovoid.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?
