hehe Let's not drown old DE. He'll treat us right. Kinda like Dairy Queen and their delicious sundaes.

And while a Clone-dub might be interesting, I am sure a few dozen guys here would riot if it was done. Re-dubbing Boba Fett was bad enough. And did the stormtroopers really say anything in Empire and Jedi? And are they necessarily clones?

If they did a re-dub of the stormies, I'd want it on a seperate audio track buried deep down on the disc.

I just got my dvd and I'm amazed at the quality of work you did DE!! I think the best thing about this is all of your fixes are seamless. Meaning nothing you did sticks out like a sore thumb. (unlike ILMs work) I think this is the way the special editions should have been. Fix the poor special effects and all the misstakes/bad edits and polish up the movie. All anoyances have been removed and I'm thankfull. The only things I saw that bugged me just a bit. (and I'm REALLY nit picking)

1. Lukes lightsaber still looks green/white. Doesn't match other blue sabers especially Anakin's in ROTS which is the same saber.
2. The green R4 unit, looks weird only because a second before that R2 is all by himself with nothing close to him, then all the sudden there's this mysterious green R4. The only fix I could think would be to digitally cover the R4 with a Jawa or use another shot of R2 standing by himself. But that's just a personal opinion.
3. It looks like right after Greedo bites the dust you see the furry 4 eyed monster in suspenders it looks like there's a purple bar in the middle of the screen. Perhaps that was just me or my tv.

Other than that, this is perfect in every way and I applaud you for such an awesome job!!!

This is the version I WILL put into my DVD player when I want to watch star wars.
Amen to that!

But I do have to ask... PLEASE DO ESB AND ROTJ!!
Oh, I was wondering, although this is'nt exactly "preserveing" the O-OT....if you could add you'r own voice to the Stormies to make them sound like AOTC and ROTS clones...

It took me long enough to dub a single impersonated "yeah" for Luke! Personally I'd be against such a change anyway, as would the majority of fans, I think.

that must be too much to ask for. lol. Mabe I'll do that my self.
Of cource I'll be useing your DVD.

I take that as a compliment!

I was wondering, why dont you put your name in the credits!?
Mabe as the first name durring the final credits...

I did consider doing that for a little while.

PLEASE DO ESB AND ROTJ!

I will, some day. I made a start on ESB but I haven't yet dug myself into it (after which I won't be able to come out until it's done).

And will you becoming out with a bonus disc of how you edited the single best movie of all time? Complete with how you added the effects?

I doubt it, but if anyone else wants to I'll be glad to help!

1. Lukes lightsaber still looks green/white. Doesn't match other blue sabers especially Anakin's in ROTS which is the same saber.

Basically it was too much effort! The colours are pretty off throughout the DVD anyway, and I did fix the worst example.

Minimal fix, although perhaps I should have used another shot of R2.

3. It looks like right after Greedo bites the dust you see the furry 4 eyed monster in suspenders it looks like there's a purple bar in the middle of the screen. Perhaps that was just me or my tv.

Probably just a bad bit of film, or light bleeding from off the edge of the screen.

DE, this sounds like an amazing project, and I'm definitely interested in seeing it if I ever have the chance.

If anyone can get me an NTSC DVD, I'd be quite appreciative!

I'd love a copy of this. Could someone post a torrent, purdy please?

Rather than let it rot on my computer way back at home while I'm here at school, I'd love to have it up on torrent (seeding for a long time) too, with DE's permission of course. I've never made one before though.

Either that or PM me for a copy and I'll run it on down to the post office not far from where I reside. For free. This weekend. I mean, literally run. Since it's so close, I wouldn't have to drive.

p.s. and Denrynj, I thought "i" was the only one who did the blinking thing... I find it absolutely difficult to believe GL sat down, watched the film looking for things to correct: film print, entire dogfight sequences, pretty much any space ship, leia's lipstick etc. and overlooked what DE and I'm sure so many of us have noticed. I'm starting to believe he never did actually watch the original film when he was making his 'se' changes. They even went so far as to change the original set design of the hanger bay for the SE, but simple little bloopers and botched fx shots went untouched.

Understandably, the more of the original film that makes it into the new releases, the better. But watching the movie is insane, jumping from great to idiotic (ie greedo shoots first) and back and forth hurts the whole experience. eh, I'm rambling. Great work, DE. I'm looking forward to anything else your planning to do with your 'real' special editions (what we should have seen in 97).

Please do torrent it - all I ask is that you make a complete image of the disc (including disc art), and include the serial number (DE-ANH20050525P or N), and my email address (dartheditous @ hotmail.co.uk) in any description of the torrent, and maybe a link back to the forums here.

ok. got this one from a.b.sw posted by segaflip. it has a dvdrom folder with label art for the disc in it. is it supposed to "dissolve" to the right just near the outer rim of the disc? i have uploaded the cover here (it´s resized for easy download).

That's normal. I had to stretch the side out a little and never tidied it up, but if you print that at 300dpi (or was it 150?), centred on a CD label, it will cover the whole label.

Wow. I just got done watching this movie and I'm in awe of everything that was done. Excellent, excellent work, Darth Editous. The only thing I missed seeing was the scene with Biggs, but I can understand the issues you had with the way that one was shown for the SE set. Otherwise, this is my favorite edit of ANH so far.

Great work!

what changes are you doing for return of the jedi?

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

what changes are you doing for return of the jedi?

Off the top of my head:

Hayden Christensen replaced with Sebastian Shaw
Replacement of Han's "I can see a lot better" line
Removal of the Jedi Rocks
Removal of the celebrations on other planets

and no doubt many more once I watched it through.

Are we already talking about Jedi?

If we're talking about Jedi, that means you're definitely doing Empire!

I love you, Darth Editous.

Uhh.. I know.

Whether I get around to doing Empire and Jedi before the sooper-dooper-deluxe-ultimate-box-set comes out waits to be seen.

Grinder, hopefully you're reading this because I've got too many PMs to reply. I don't use Premiere so I can't specifically help you out, but if you've got the HDD space (70Gb or thereabouts) you might want to convert the m2v to an MJPEG AVI using VirtualDub-MPEG2 and your favourite MJPEG codec (you may have one installed from Premiere).

Please do Empire and Jedi ASAP. I really want to have a completed set so I can enjoy them all. You really did such a great job with SW, it'd be a crying shame not to finish the set and finish them soon!

If you do decide to do Empire, I just want to point out to you that there is a transperency problem with the matte during Vader's first telechoke conference. It's in one of the corners, I can't remember which now, but it was very obvious when I last watched it.

You can see the rest of the body of the Imperial Admiral, when all you should see is the wall in front of Vader.

I wasn't aware of that one, thanks! Anyone else got any pet peeves with ESB?

Is there any way to make the Taun-taun (especially in the opening shots) a little more fluid and natural looking? Maybe using the same technique you used to smooth out R2's third leg and Obi-Wan's lightsaber igniting. Some of it is just so glaringly clay-mation.

The SE wampa needs to go. That thing looked horrible! The obvious stuff like Boba Fett's voice reinstated, Vader's line "Bring my shuttle", fix Piett's flipped rank badge at the end, etc.

And for the love of God! There's GOT to be something you can do about the Ian McDiarmid scene. It's like, I want him in there, but the visual looked so stupid. Is there a possibility of making your own hologram out of other Emperor scenes from ROTS or ROTJ and then compositing it with the Vader footage? The transmission can crackle and sputter to hide the lips not matching up. They're in an asteroid field after all. If that's too ambitious, perhaps you could just manipulate the existing image, fix the hood and add shadow to the neck to hide that turtle thing he had going on. It just did not look right at all. Anyway, hopefully you'll come up with something better - and hopefully not the original old lady/chimp thing, 'cause that one doesn't work any more.

Good luck.

I do plan on trying something with the Emperor. Maybe the Taun-Taun too, although the problem there isn't that it's truly jerky (all frames are animated) but that there's no motion blur so it looks unnatural.

I'm not sure what, if anything, I'll do with the Wampa. It shouldn't be hard to remove it.

I owe everyone an apology. There is a horribly glaring error on my ANH disc. I really don't know what to say... I'm sure you all spotted it, but you've just been too polite to tell me.

Yes, you know what I'm talking about. Frame 169216. Now, I'm not actually sure if it was like that on the original DVD, or if it was a mistake I made, but I should have fixed it:

I am, of course, hanging my head in shame.
