BLOODY AWESOME MOVIE !!!  I WON'T SAY ANYMORE ABOUT IT THAN THAT RIGHT NOW.  OH, THERE IS ONE THING.  THE MOVIE CLOCKS IN AT 2 HOURS 44 MINUTES.

BTW, THE T4 TRAILER WAS PRETTY DAMN COOL TOO.

You Bastard! - nah, Jk ;) I've managed to see the trailer now...It just would have been a nice icing on a delicious cake

Just can't wait for more people to see this so we can discuss without fear of spoiling. Unless we resort to random quotes without contect.

Based on the rumors I'd heard, I thought I'd be disappointed with the treatment of my favorite Batman character (Dent/Two-Face), but I thought it was handled near-perfectly for the themes and story the film held (though it's still not the way I'd like to see Two-Face portrayed, it was PERFECT for the movie).  I couldn't be happier.

I like that he had reasons for why he did things and wasnt just a wacky character ala Batman 3. I really liked where they went with Harvey.

When you make a movie like this with long established characters it's going to be hard [to please everyone] but I thought it was all handled great.

I haven't seen this yet but only one thing can be sure: Skyjedi will complain about something.

It's not like there's nothing to complain about in the movie, but hell, it's so freakin' good, why bother?  The stuff that's complain-worthy is so insignificant in comparison ...

So am I the only one that got REALLY excited during the "Watchmen" trailer?

What is there to complain about this movie if you are a batman fan?

Seriously this movie rocks.

Its not like i have to sit through batman and robin again, literally one of the worst movies i have had to endure in theaters even worse than the star wars prequels.

If you see 2 movies this year it should be Iron Man and Dark Knight, The Hulk is mediocre at best but not pure shit like the last one, and Indiana Jones is just the icing on the cake brought on by the dissapointing prequels.

4 movies people waited over twenty years to see and now wish could be put back into pandoras box, or more relatively George Lucas brain.

The one batman movie I never saw in theaters and wish i had was batman 1989 with Micheal Keaton. I saw batman II: batman returns in theaters before the shitmacher films.

Nolan knows what he is doing has brought respect back to the batman franchise and the character. He does not overload the films with over the top crappy cgi, like batman and robin.

and unlike Superman Returns, Batman begins was a triumph not a dissapointment.

Oh no, you're not the only one, but I'm too worried that "300"-man is going to make it all style and no substance in streamlining it to fit a 2-hour running time.  While it looks visually stunning, I'm nervous - but I will certainly see it.

I have the single disc release of the dvd. I rented the 2 disc so called special edition and there were like no real special features on the second disc. Other than a lame digital comic book and the pre release materials on tv and in the digital press kit.

Not sure which special features disc you saw for Batman Begins but the one I have has a ton of features! You click on diffrent things in the digital comic or keep skipping pages until you get to the end and there is a list of all the features.

On the new movie : OMG what an amazing film! Heath's Joker will never be touched, he lives up to the hype and completely deserves to win an Oscar for the role. I am a long time reader of the Batman comics but I have to say I think this film has all the comics beat even the Miller stuff. You couldn't get a more real and gritty Batman than this. The whole cast is superb and Eckhart as Dent/Two Face is nothing short of excellent. Don't want to get into spoilers but I will shut up now and just say see the movie you won't regret it.

Just saw Dark Knight today at an IMAX: Wow. It was fantastic. Easilly the best Batman movie yet. Ledger was as amazing as the hype claimed and the story was great. I was on the edge of my seat for much of the film and didn't want the movie to end. One of the best tension/action movies ever.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DVD NOW.  WARNER BROS. STATED THAT THE ORIGINAL RUN TIME FOR THE MOVIE WAS 3 HRS. 30 MINS.  I REALLY CAN'T SEE WHAT ELSE COULD'VE BEEN IN THE MOVIE.  TO ME IT WAS PERFECTLY CUT.  ALL OF HEATH LEDGER'S PERFORMANCES WERE LEFT IN THE MOVIE.

BTW, IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET THEN YOU SHOULD WATCH BATMAN GOTHAM KNIGHT.  THE STORIES TIE DIRECTLY INTO THE MOVIE.

Have you watched Gotham Knight dayv?

I'm planning to check it out but hearing very mixed things. All i'm after is honest opinions not hype about it linking the films and what not.

Of those that have seen TDK, what are your thoughts on a sequel? Would you be satisfied if they don't do any follow up films? Personally I'm satisfied with where the story currently lies, And I'm also concerned that the studio may want to keep churning out sequels given the success...which could lead us back into Joel Schumacher territory at some point. Granted that's a worst case scenario [in my mind].

I'd be satisfied either way.  As long as Nolan continues, I'll have faith, and if someone else does, well, I might not be willing to give it a chance ... but we'll see where things go.

And Gotham Knight is OK, but not great.  The "Deadshot" story's pretty sweet, though.

If all the same, key people are involved then I'd welcome it. I'd be happy if this series could be rounded off as a true trilogy.

I ACTUALLY HAD THE DVD ABOUT A WEEK EARLY.  THERE WERE PARTS THAT REMINDED ME OF THE ANIMATRIX.  THE FIRST STORY SEEMED TO BE A TAKE OFF OF ONE OF THE EPISODES FROM BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES WHERE 3 KIDS TELL THEIR VERSION OF WHAT THEY THINK BATMAN IS.  DEADSHOT WAS GREAT.  THERE'S A STORY THAT LEADS DOWN INTO THE SEWERS THAT REALLY TIES INTO THE DARK KNIGHT.  ALL-IN-ALL I REALLY ENJOYED THE DVD.

The Dark Knight Breaks Opening Weekend Record!
Source: Superhero Hype!
July 20, 2008

Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight has earned $155.34 million to top Spider-Man 3 for best opening weekend at the box office. The weekend estimates show Christopher Nolan's Batman Beginsfollow-up more than $4 million ahead of the $151.1 million first weekend for Spider-Man 3 in May of 2007. The Dark Knight has also broken Spider-Man 3's record ($4.7 million) for best debut in IMAX theaters with $6.2 million in 94 locations.

Budgeted at $180 million, the film opened in a record 4,366 theaters nationwide and broke the new single and opening day records on Friday with $67.85 million. Spider-Man 3 previously held those records with $59.8 million.

Internationally, The Dark Knight added $40 million in 20 countries where it began opening Wednesday.

The Dark Knight stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.

Jack Nicholson sucked as the Joker. At best Jack Nicholson is a character actor and his portrayal of the Joker was simply a maniacal version of his ordinary Jack Nicholison. It was not the real Joker by any means. It made for a good movie in its time, but this new one kicks its ass to the high heavens.

My TDK Review, don't worry I won't get specific or give any spoilers, I will just give my overall opinion of the film

First let me say, I am a tough critic, and I don't goto summer movies much anymore, cause most of the summer movies suck, including that crappola called Indy IV. TDK is fucking awesome, and is everything I have wanted in a summer blockbuster in the past 10-15 years. It lives up to the hype, and anyone who is looking for more in a movie then just constant action and special effects, this is your movie.

The movie is MADE for our age group (18-36 year olds) It is not made for kids, it is not dumbed down for the audience, as I will need to watch it again to fully digest the whole plot. There is no stupid shit in there like Jar Jar Binks or anything that will make you roll your eyes and think to yourself, "That was for merchandising."

Bale is great as usual, cool, calm, dark, edgy, and he IS Batman. Heath Ledger steals EVERY scene he is in, and this is what was missing from BB, a great villain, as Ledger is funny, over the top, yet you could picture him as a serial killer. The overall cast is great: Oldman, Caine, Freeman, even Gyllenhal does a good and is better then Katie 'Cruise' Holmes.

What made this movie great for me is it went deeper then the summer bullshit movies that are made every year. This movie made you think, made you question the decisions the characters were making, it made you put yourself in their position, and think, "OK, what would I do?" It got into the characters psychies, it showed their vulnerbilities, and it had a story that keeps you on your toes and isn't some paint by the numbers where you know where it is going. It was also greatly edited as it moved for a 2 1/2 hour movie, and never once got dull.

Nolan did a great job, and maybe Hollywood will take note that THIS is what people want to see, not CGI, not constant action, people like me want to see a grown up movie with a grown up story, with indepth characters set in a universe that only can be played out on a movie screen. This was the Star Wars of Comic Book movies to me.

This will rank right next to Superman I from 1978 as the two greatest comic book movies ever. Superman I is more like SW, dramatic, funny, and magical in the same breath, while TDK is more like ESB, dark, edgy, and kicks you right in the gut

TDK rating: A

Edit: I did forget, the movie is still fun if anyone was worrying it was going to be too serious. It has humor spread through the movie, that I feel BB lacked, as it balanced nicely with the serious subject the plot was dealing with. And it wasn't just The Joker who had all the funny lines like Nicolson had in 1989, Bale, Caine, and Freeman each got some good one liners in there.

The Dark Knight's Final Tally? $158.4 Million!

Source: The Hollywood Reporter, Variety
July 21, 2008

On Sunday, Warner Bros. Pictures estimated that The Dark Knight had earned $155.3 million its opening weekend. Turns out, that was low! The final figures show that Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins follow-up took in a record-breaking $158.4 million over the Friday-to-Sunday frame, easily beating the $151.1 million opening of Spider-Man 3 in May 2007.

One of the big reasons for the lower estimate was that the studio expected the movie to do about $39.4 million on Sunday but in actuality it received about $43 million, again beating Spider-Man 3's previous record of $39.9 million for the day.

The film earned a record-breaking $67.8 million on Friday alone. Of that, $18.5 million came from midnight shows, besting the previous midnight record set by Fox's 2005 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which grossed $16.9 million from 3,663 theaters.

It also set the record for an IMAX opener, earning $6.2 million from 94 IMAX theaters.

The studio estimates that The Dark Knight, which opened in a record 4,366 theaters, could gross as much as $220 million in its first week. That's more than the entire domestic gross of Nolan's Batman Begins, which earned $205 million domestically and $166 million overseas.

The big opening allowed the box office to take in a record $250 million in ticket sales total. The previous weekend record was $218.4 million, set in July 2007 when Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest opened to $135.6 million.

Are you just negative to be negative?  Seriously, everyone I know, from hardcore fans to not so much, loved Batman Begins.  I personally thought it was better than even the first Keaton Batman and I love that one too.  Nicholson did obviously play the joker as just a crazy version of himself, but I still liked his performance.  To me Christian Bale is kicking the shit out of all other Batman's combined.  I especially liked his comments in the behind the scenes of Batman Begins when he talked about having a headache during filming.  Instead of taking aspirin for the pain he says "No, use it".  The next shot is then of his "Swear to me!".

Edit: They can make a sequel, they just can't have Joker in it.

For the record, I haven't seen TDK yet, but I want to SOOOOO much!

Edit 2: I have no idea what Watchmen is, but that trailer looks freaking sweet!  I can't wait to see that!
