LOL...is that a word?

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

One way to check, I believe, would be to attempt to torrent the file and point it to the download directory to see if it recognizes it.

i think md5 checksums would be great. might take a day of creating them, but an md5 checksum for each file on each disc is good. perhaps tr47,cowclops, or anyone else who has received a 'direct' shipment should be able to make it. you could also torrent this md5 file and up it to usenet for maximum help.

If someone's going to upload it to usenet, they'll need to at least create sfv files for the rar files they post. If it's all done properly, it should be no different from a disc downloaded via bittorrent or received through the mail.

Ways to make an (almost-)uncorruptible Usenet posting:

1. Post an ISO, not a bunch of folders. This will not only make sure all the files are in the right place (video in VIDEO_TS, info and covers and other art in DVD_ROM, for example), but will also preserve the name of the volume.

2. RAR it up good.

3. Make about 20% PAR2 files; post 10% immediately following the original post if you don't want to be posting fills for the rest of your natural life.

4. Make an SFV, an NFO, an NZB, and a sample. Make a representative sample file: a piece of menu, say, plus some action? Maybe some subtitled parts? There's nothing quite as frustrating as a sample that's too big (don't need more than 20 seconds) and that doesn't show anything you can make decisions on.

5. Post the NFO as text, or (if you must) as a downloadable NFO. Don't include these little crap files in the PAR2 stuff (which is why I put these things in two separate steps, above).

6. Post the PAR2, SFV, NFO, NZB and sample files first, then all the RARs, and then the first 10% of the PAR2 files.

7. When losers whine about missing some PAR2 files, maybe post a few more.

If these steps are followed, it's virtually impossible for a sane downloader with more than two brain cells to rub together to screw it up.

Before my question gets lost in the usenet discussions, I'm just going to ask again.
Does anyone know the chapter stops for the Cowclows 2 release? Are they the same Definitive Collection stops as #1? I'm working on inserts to go with a cover set, and I want to put the chapter stops on it. Thanks!

For a release with a thread this long, and a release date relatively back in the past, and with this much hype, it's sorta disappointing that there hasn't been any sort of wide release on a.b.starwars or MySpleen or what-have-you. Wasn't part of the idea that the people who got DVDs directly would take responsibility for wide distribution? Just a rhetorical question.

To answer your question, I haven't seen anything on chapter points. If I were you, I'd wait the extra week or so and wait to see a copy with my own eyes. There's little point in having two or more versions of your covers out there, should you happen to pick wrong the first time around.

And as for a wide release....

There really are only 3 of us here on the OT that regularly upload DVD's for the fans - Metallaxis, The Dark One and myself (and it took me 30 days to get a copy after payment)

As I do have the set now, I will be uploading the set STARTING on monday on MYSPLEEN.NET and I do have plans on having this uploaded on the alt.hoobiedoobies.newsgroupiesthingies (help me DARK ONE your my only hope!) once I get the uploader confirmed. I shipped out 8 free sets to the seeders on yesterday so everyone should have them this weekend so this set will get out there VERY fast once I upload them on monday.

So please hold tight gang!!

The TENATIVE upload plan looks like this....

SUNDAY the 7th - I create the DVD-Rom folders (with NFO files & DVD art) & the .torrent file using the VIDEO_TS folder structure for those with broadband but yet still run the antiquated win98 OS and email them to the seeders

MONDAY the 8th - I'll upload the Cowclops V.2 capture of STAR WARS

WEDNESDAY the 10th - The Empire Strikes Back - Cowclops V.2

FRIDAY the 12th - Return of the Jedi - Cowclops V.2

Yeah, and you guys do a great job between you. And Zion, with his incredible Ep III. I wish a few more people would step up into a similar role. Then again, I don't seed (until I grab the torrent, and then I seed at least 150% of what I d/l) or post, so I'm one to talk. On the other hand, I deliberately don't ask for a free copy up front for this very reason. And I usually keep my mouth shut when I'm tempted to post to ask when things are coming. I figure they'll get there in their own sweet time, and my askin' about it ain't gonna help things along any.

this [will be] uploaded on the alt.hoobiedoobies.newsgroupiesthingies

I'm not sure my provider carries that one... yet.

You don't get alt.hoobiedoobies.newsgroupiesthingies??.

Man, you've gotta get a better news provider!
I get alt.hoobiedoobies.newsgroupiesthingies and alt.hoobiedoobies.newsgroupiesthingies.repost and alt.hoobiedoobies.newsgroupiewhatsitamjigs as part of the standard package.

I got my v2.0 set last week and I don't think you guys will be dissapointed. The only gripe I have with it is the weird yellow ghosting found throughout the beginning of A New Hope. Also, at the beginning of each film, the blue border around the THX logo extends past the right side of my screen. This may just be an issue with my TV/DVD player, but it leads me to believe that about an inch or two of video is cut off the right side of the film. Anyone else notice this on their TV/monitor?

I'd also like to point out that if people are going to post about sharing torrent files they should create a new thread. I think it would be nice if we could keep this thread all about our reaction to the transfers...not when, who, and what is being downloaded off the net. It would be especially helpful to this thread since it's already massive.

True, but with the TV calibrated properly the OVER OVER scan can be eliminated and the picture can almost be restored - BUT this must be done by an ISF certified calibrator (call around to TV repair shops ) or you can attempt to get into your TV service menu - do a google search (but you'll need a few tools i.e. tv's service manual, Video Essentials DVD or SMPTE color bars and a BLUE filter (Wratten Gelatin Filter 98 - Kodak catalog number 149-6298)

- Well since these are not a part of the Cowclops V.2 set I was planning a totally seperate upload for them AND I will also start a seperate thread for the Rowman releases once I take a little break from the forum over the weekend

But for those that don't want to wait for the uploads drop me an email for details on the set.

LOL...that's kinda funny. Actually, having them as glasses makes it a little easier. I may actually buy a pair.

You're welcome, George.

Is it just me, or is that link screwed up? For me, it starts to load, then flips to PayPal. The leading http: needs some fixin'.

(That is the number one reason I dislike links that have text saying something like "this site", rather than the URL. It's much harder to notice when you've posted a weird-lookin' link.)
