Just a little heads up, the subtitles for S01E04 are missing. The link for the S01E04 subs in your spreadsheet is a repeat of the link for episode S01E03 subs.
Cheers!
Sure thing, fire me a PM.

Tales of the Empire is soon to drop, and features Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee.
It looks, from the trailers, like there might be a Morgan Elsbeth flashback to the Massacre episode, which I included in TCW:R as part of the episode ‘Retribution’, my s02e02. You might be wondering if I’m going to edit that episode to include the Elsbeth content.
I don’t plan to.
There’s a simple reason for this: TCW:R focuses on the narrative of the Clone Wars. It’s a similar situation to how I handled TCW season six’s Bad Batch arc - in that case, even though the Bad Batch episodes happened during the clone wars, really they’re part of a different narrative, the Bad Batch narrative. The Bad Batch arc of TCW really should be treated as ‘episode zero’ of the Bad Batch show, a flashback to set up its current narrative.
Similarly, whilst Morgan being present during the Nightsister Massacre is set during the Clone Wars, Morgan as a character doesn’t join the narrative in a significant way until Mando season two (at least 28 in-universe years later, or over about 70 real world hours of content later if watching chronologically). Or at least, assuming Morgan’s TOTE episodes are set during the Empire, her main narrative will happen somewhere in the Empire era, not during the Clone Wars.
I’ll likely acknowledge at least the Barriss Offee content in my ‘Follow-on content’ section, but I don’t think either will need to be incorporated into this show.
Totally agree.
Different question though after watching the BB finale: You had considered doing a Zillo Beast episode in the past. Has the likelihood of that happening increased with how the BB ended?
I haven’t seen this season of BB, but I heard that the Zillo Beast features. I’ll definitely produce that episode as it’s become relevant. I doubt it’ll become one of my recommended ones (both because I’m sure the appearance in BB has its own context, and because BB itself doesn’t seem to have become relevant enough to garner a lot of cultural weight), but yep, I’ll make it and include it in place.
Very cool to hear!

As far as I can tell it’s not the same massacre but one that happens at the end of the war, the one from the Darth Maul comic where Talzin is killed.
Well, I’ve just watched the Barriss episodes. A nice conclusion to her arc.
I’m very glad I cut her ‘Red lightsabers suit me’ moment from my Fall of Ahsoka episodes, I think that’s borne out nicely with the direction her character took here.
Up until the third Barriss episode, I’d kind of felt like maybe I could have put this all together, along with the last Ahsoka episode from Tales of the Jedi, and perhaps the final scene of Clone Wars featuring Vader finding Ahsoka’s lightsaber, into a single ‘aftermath’ episode. But the final Barriss episode ends after the Kenobi show, and I don’t want this to mess with a chronological watch too much.
I’ll add light notes to that effect in the spreadsheet, but I don’t think I’ll produce any content out of this.
And since the Inquisitors don’t feature in Bad Batch, I’d probably actually watch all three of these episodes either side of the Kenobi show in future watches (two before, one after) - they feel best placed there both thematically and chronologically, and that way the full Lyn/Fourth Sister arc plays through both shows properly.
So far i love it. i started awhile back but life got in the way and im about to start season 3 this friday. my friend had seen the original series, who i am watching this with, and he also really enjoys this cleaner/tweaked version compared to the original.
TY So much. im sure he will have more to say and a better review once we finish the series.
Hi Eddie, I was wondering if you personally have preferred prequel edits to pair with the Refocused project. I know your spreadsheet says to choose your favorites but I’m wondering if there’s any you think work particularly well in this context.
That’s a good question! As a rule I like edits which preserve all the canon, so Hal’s are always a safe bet. I really enjoyed Spence’s too, though they cut a bit too much canon for my preferences. They’re tight and enjoyable though.

Gotcha. Hal’s are probably my preference at this point as well. My own edits I mostly keep around for legacy reasons. I know Hal spitballed a few years back some ideas for even more conservative/canon-friendly edits. I’ve considered trying to create cuts based on those notes, but I’m not sure if there’s enough of an audience for it, there are so many prequel edits already out there.
So far this is really good, but I’m only 5 episodes in. A couple of things I would personally change:
The three most memorable storylines from TCW when I first watched it were the Domino Squadron stuff, Mortis, and The Cosmic Force. I would consider them the best episodes of TCW in general.
Would LOVE TO see this. Brilliant idea. Can’t wait. Just shot you a DM!

I completely agree with Keeping the Morgan Elsbeth parts separate as there’s no other link to the character in TCW era.
Given how important Bariss is to Ahsoka’s development, I’d argue that rolling “Devoted” into the Resolve epilogue could be worth consideration, whilst then referencing the Bariss TotE episodes as follow-on watching. There’s few reasons for this, the most obvious being the the timeline crossovers, Resolve both starts before Devoted, and ends afterwards. There’s also some ‘almost’ parallels in Ahsoka’s return to fighting for the light whilst Bariss falls into the dark, at least until her redemption later on.
The question is really “Is it relevant to the story of the Clone Wars?” The Bad Batch four-parter originally in TCW simply wasn’t relevant to TCW (other than that one scene, which I did use) - instead, it was relevant to the story of the Bad Batch show. The Ahsoka content from TOTJ was relevant to TCW, since it enhanced Ahsoka’s story set during the same timeframe. But, whilst Barriss is arguably one of the more major TCW characters, her return in TOTE doesn’t do anything to enhance the story of TCW. It certainly warrants a watch - it leads into both the Kenobi show and Rebels - but I think it’s more of a standalone thing.
can you send me a link? thanks in advance

Sure- send me a PM and I’ll share it there.
Just noticed a wee typo on your extra episode, Lightsaber Lost. During the intro, it says: “Their pursuit of a black market arms dealer has led them into Corsuscant’s dark underbelly.” Extra ‘s’ in the Coruscant.
I was wondering if you had any timeframe on the extended or extra episodes you have planned in the spreadsheet?
Very late on this, but I binged Season 1 all through last week. It’s awesome how seamless this is. There isn’t a single moment where I felt like something was missing. The biggest improvement is the opener.
Using the intros to make these anthology episodes actually connect to each other is a dope idea. Some folks may miss the more standalone nature of arcs from the og show, but this is a interesting experiment.
Sure- send me a PM and I’ll share it there.

Yes. A lot of work to make the dialogue sound worse.
Whether or not it’s a bad idea, it’s not something I’d like to do for this project. I like the animated voice actors.
