This is a throw-together of the intro:
This uses my idea of having the narration alongside the SOLO opening text.

Just my personal opinion probably doesn’t reflect others: IMO I feel both text and narration is unnecessary. If the words are there then it’s better to let viewers read it themselves. If you go for narration, then better to keep the visuals to give them something different to go along with the narration. I feel either way is good separately, but they don’t both work together. But again that’s just my own personal opinion and you and others may feel differently.

I understand what you mean.
I’m drifting towards a Solo/Mandalorian Hybrid introduction, taking the advice into account, which I hope will feel like a fitting compromise 😃

I hope for a productive day tomorrow as I still have work to juggle during the week.

Yeah I just saw that episode! It was an interesting presentation style.

I’ll play around as I go.

But the question is: Do we still want the the narrator over the text?

You would probably have to try both and see what works best. The narration is a familiar part of TCW so it will probably feel natural to use it, but if the episodes should feel more like movies, text without narration will probably work quite well. I’m guessing the intro will feel more serious without the narration as well, but I’m not sure.

Got some previews:

This is for the intro:

I think it still feels like a pretty natural opener and the title appearing on the opening shot feels pretty indie movie.

This is the transition from ‘Cat and Mouse’ to ‘The Hidden Enemy’:

Just to prove I can edit 😉
Seems to be a case if finding the 2 most natural shots to join together to maintain the pace of the episode.

you are an angel, I’m so excited for this I can’t wait.

also the bad batch was such a good arc for rex and Anakin, it contextualizes the prequels with the scene about obi wan and rex kinda knowing about padme, it strengths the bond between Anakin, obi wan and even rex. Maybe including that would serve the story very well

Yeah I was tempted to swap out the Martez Sisters with the Bad Batch arc to be honest.

Thanks for the kind words.

I’m very excited to see where this all goes! Thanks so much for taking this project on.

A couple suggestions, if I may:

  • as great as your recently posted intro is, I think the unique intro introduced in S07E09 is a good way to go, especially since E09-E12 are being released in a way that suggests it might be released in movie format sooner than later. Those 4 episodes (once they’re all released) will stand alone as one coherent story and serve as a good blueprint in my opinion.
  • I noticed in your original post that you were thinking of including the “Without a Trace” episodes. In my opinion, these episodes have very little to offer other than bringing back Ahsoka. I actually temporarily stopped watching S07 during that arc because of how much of a let down it was. I’d rather see the Bad Batch for the sake of Rex, or neither.

As far as whether you choose to go with Option 1, Option 2, or a completely different direction, I’m easy.

I genuinely think the Walkabout arc is better than Bad Batch but I don’t think you have to include either one.

If you really have to, a heavily edited, shorter version of those arcs would be better.

yeah I think that’d be a fantastic idea. It’s a lot more effective seeing Ashoka for the first after the time skip when she contacts Anakin and obi wan, it has some mystery to it. I feel like a lot of the martez arc was filler, and for sure man, me and my friends are very excited for this. Thank you

Well I can always do both Walkabout and Bad Batch arcs. Since I will probably release each mini movie separately, it’s a case of choosing whether you want to add either one to your collection 😃

I’m not too sure what you mean with the comment about the intro. Since Episode 9 just started with a different soundtrack and a title card. I’m planning to keep the intros reasonably consistent throughout the mini series.

I can always play with a variety of ideas whilst I’m editing these arcs together 😃

I will soon update the first post so everyone will know what’s going on currently.

the more I think about it the more I think the bad batch serves as an important character arc for rex and Anakin, Anakin shows that he isn’t bound by the Jedi code when he kills and the padme obi wan reveal serves episode 3 incredibly

and btw great job on your first clip, it was seamless. beyond excited

and are you planning on including cad bane in any way? It’s understandable if not, he’s just a fun very Star Wars character

vic

Unfortunately I will not be including Cad Bane. I won’t the collection of stories to have a bit more focus on the more important characters (Anakin, Obi Wan, Ashoka, Maul, The Clones).

He is cool tho!

Author

bet, it’s actually a good idea to keep it focused on the war and those characters

Sorry if my post wasn’t clear.

To my recollection, episode 9 begins with green text that says something like “Lucasfilm Presents…” with some music behind it. Then the classic Star Wars crawl begins but in a red font (probably a reference to Maul) and then fades into the typical announcer Clone Wars intro. None of us are really a fan of that last announcer part, but if you replaced it with a “Solo-esque” crawl at that point I think it would all look super great. In my mind, that was Filoni’s way of saying “these last four episodes are special and deserve a movie-like treatment.”

If that still doesn’t make sense, then don’t worry about it!! What you have going it great and I’ll be watching it regardless 🙂

Thanks for clearing that up AbramPT

I might approach all of the episodes like this:

o Lucasfilm logo (old or new version)
o Clone Wars logo
o Episode name
o the narrator’s transcript in the Solo style text, with the Clone Wars theme in the background
o Iris wipe to the opening shot

That way it keeps the original vibe with a more mature/film like spin.

I could also have the first half of the series with blue text and the second half of the series (Revenge arc onwards) with red text. That would look pretty as heck!

The first post has also been edited to diplay my most up to date plan.
