A Boba Fett movie is no surprise for me, is one of the top 3 characters I assume would be getting a spin off. My only concern with the spin offs is the consistency across the whole ST/Anthology films, I don’t want to see a magnificent TFA, a bad ‘‘Rogue One’’ then a mediocre episode VIII and a horrific Boba Fett movie. I hope Disney implements QA controls for the entire project.

Currently in canon Boba Fett is not even a Mandalorian, and he is the clone of Jango Fett some thug who randomly had Mando armor.

If it was the Boba of the original trilogy, minus the lame way he died in return of the jedi i would be interested. Not interested in prequel Boba.

Would be interested in finally finding out why Boba Fett and Han Solo hate each other so much and Boba seems to be gunning for Solo.

But even filling in those blanks could be really lame if done prequel style.

Boba does have an origin its just really lame like Anakin's origin. Unless they overwrite the origin and the Boba from episode II is killed and someone steals his suit and assumes the name.

Would rather have the man with no name Clint style Boba, but can they do that after the second prequel?

Boba Fett and the Colon of Doom

Synopsis: After he fell into the Pit of Carcoon the infamous Bounty Hunter Boba Fett discovers a hideous plot that could change the Fate of the Galaxy forever. Can Boba Fett escape the deathly traps of the thousands of years old alimentary tract to save the galaxy?

I hope Disney will somehow retcon the Jango Fett / Kamino Origin of our beloved Bounty Hunter.

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

I'm not sure how to feel about this as Boba has always been my favourite character, and obviously Lucas basically ruined him entirely with AOTC.

As it stands right now, in the new Ultimate Star Wars book (which is basically the spiritual successor to the old Star Wars Encyclopaedias and Guides to the Star Wars Universe), Boba Fett is officially stripped down to exactly everything we see in the films and The Clone Wars. People have been rudely touting this as the end of the retcon speculation, but I don't see why they would spoil the plot of a movie that's at least two years away at this point when they could just update the book later for a few more bucks; I mean, the book doesn't say anything about Rogue One or any of the major plot points about TFA, so why people think that just because it doesn't say that the name Boba Fett changed hands at least once between The Clone Wars and Empire doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I say that the speculation that the PT Boba and the OT Boba are different people is alive and well. This may just be me grasping at straws, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it didn't come out that way.

In the Clone Wars, Boba does become a decent bounty hunter by the time we see him in the series for the last time, but he still never dons the Mandalorian armour in any significant way. The helmet he uses is something totally different in fact. This may not actually mean anything, because the Untold Clone Wars panel at Celebration this year had rough footage of Boba and several other hunters fighting Dooku with Boba finally armoured up as we know him, but since the series never made it that far means that PT Boba hasn't ever worn the armour at this point, which leaves a lot of room for artistic interpretation for his film. Of course, by that time, Daniel Logan will still be at a good age for an origin story, so it's really still all up in the air.

I, too, would love to have a Man With No Name-type space western, like skyjedi said, but that will be very hard to do with an origin story where we already have knowledge of the kid from AOTC.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

I'm still inclined to not believe the rumors, but a Boba Fett movie makes almost too much sense. He's one of the series's most popular characters, yet has never been given a real spotlight in any of the films. It's bound to happen at some point.

I doubt they'd do an origin story because there's no reason to. I don't see why Boba can't just be Boba at the start of the film and then do his Boba thing for the film's duration.

A Boba Fett movie would be a huge cash-in, but I worry that they'll try to do some boring prequel related story such as what was happening to him between II and III. Honestly, any mention of the prequels' version of Boba Fett's backstory would completely destroy the excitement of a Boba Fett movie since the AOTC portrayal of Fett was so lame.

Im just hoping this is more of a bounty hunter centric movie and boba is not the sole focus.

Mentioning the PT would ruin the film for some viewers while contradicting it would ruin the film for other viewers. So, like I said, it's probably best if they don't delve too deeply into the character's past, and I'd be surprised if Disney didn't feel the same way.

If Boba Fett has a Kiwi accent in this film, we can kiss any hope of post-Lucas LFL ever repairing the disastrous mess that was the PT.

If he sounds like Jason Wingreen - or better yet, is actually voiced by Jason Wingreen (assuming he is still able at 95 years old - unlikely, but not impossible; look at Stan Lee, or Christopher Lee for that matter) - then we can pretty safely take JJ Abrams' increasingly open expressions of antipathy toward the PT as signs of an actual official recogninition by Disney that the PT is an unacceptably glaring lapse in franchise quality that they are open to fixing at some point in the future.

Personally, I'd like to see Boba Fett as the white-uniformed Mandalorian Supercommando that we were repeatedly - if unofficially - told he was during the Clone Wars era.

Also Josh Trank won't be directing the film anymore:

Having seen both trailers for the abysmally awful looking Fantastic Four reboot, I can offer a hearty "thank goodness" and "good riddance" in response to this news.

I hope they go the Kasdan "man with no name" route, and keep his helmet on for the whole film.

If this is to happen, I hope they will try to ignore everything established in PT.

My thoughts in a nutshell:

If they choose to make OT Boba an altogether different character from PT Boba, or at least make the film PT-neutral while giving the character a Jason Wingreen-esque voice again, I'll probably check it out.

If they choose to stick with PT Boba -- Kiwi accent, lameass clone backstory, Temuera Morrison's/Daniel Logan's face and all -- then I'll completely skip it and refuse to give it another thought.

I H8 mammon and flip it all the birds. Sue me.

You could have him sound like Jason Wingreen and explain it away as either a voice modulator upgrade or a mysterious man with no name has killed PT Boba and is trading on and advancing his reputation as a badass bounty hunter.

I never saw any actual character rivalry between Fett and Solo.

Solo knew that Fett was the best at what he did so Jabba would eventually hire him.

Fett takes jobs seriously.

That's the limit of their actual in narrative enmity so far.

Fett does represent a mirror of Solo. He is an outlaw, he has the cool look and the fast ship but no rebel friends. In fact he is more solo than Solo which serves as a comparison to Han's character arc.

I suspect if they knew each other personally they would probably get along reasonably well.

I feel like there'd be more animosity between Vader and Boba with what happened to his father. He knew Vader's identity in the EU, but not sure if that counts.

He should certainly recognize the Skywalker name.

I've got mixed feelings about this as well. I would love to see them go the route of the original Boba Fett being killed and replaced by a better, badder Boba, who takes the original's name for himself. I think that would add more depth to the OT character if done properly, and allow us to be more forgiving of the PT Boba. Unfortunately, I doubt this will happen, especially since the SE would be contradicted.

I'm sure the movie will be more OT (and hopefully, ST as well) oriented with the story taking place after ROTJ, the best way of dismissing the PT is not even trying to get it right, just ignoring it completely. I'm hoping that the opening scene will be him escaping from the PIT and then the story will take it from there, any historic references of the character must be as OT as they can be and if they can even contradict the PT even better!

I think we can be somewhat reassured by the fact that Disney has been moving slowly but steadily away from the PT as a whole. Sure it's still there and they make no effort to hide it, but they certainly haven't been marketing it as much as they have the OT and ST.

Yeah, Disney doesn't really want to mention the PT.  JJ goes out of his way to ignore it, barring the Jar Jar joke.  The Disney Store Merch was all OT-based last time I was in there.

The PT era is over and some people just can't accept it.  Notice how they never threw a fit nor offered sympathy when the OT was treated badly.  Yet they want us to feel bad their Star Wars is gone.  Cry me a river.

I hope they go for the rumor of Anthology Boba killing PT Boba and stealing his armor.  It was like if they would have told who V was in V for Vendetta.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Idea: Boba and a couple other bounty hunters are all in pursuit of a buried stash of gold and riches. One of them knows what cemetery its buried in, but only Boba knows the name on the grave. They sneak their way behind enemy lines, and it finally ends in a three way standoff to see who's the fastest draw.

Whatever else this film does or does not do, I hope it gives us great, big, heaping platefuls of IG-88. I've loved that spindly, sinister-looking SOB for more than the past 3 decades now, despite having seen him do nothing at all on film other than standing next to Dengar, completely immobile.

The idea of seeing him in action, being a bounty hunter, and actually putting that wicked arsenal of his to use (particularly his "killing blade") in a film not directed by Josh Trank makes me even more giddy than the thought of seeing Luke, Han and Leia onscreen again.

Here's hoping they give him this voice (something as far removed from James Spader as one could possibly hope for in a huge, killer robot):

Terrible idea. His armor told us everything we needed to know about the character and his past for that matter. The less you know the better, it's part of what gave the character its aura of mystery and coolness before he was emasculated in Return of the Jedi.

Make a Garindan spy movie instead.

Hate each other so much? What film did you watch? Boba Fett wanted to collect a bounty on Han Solo. I doubt Solo even knew who he was, he wasn't even referred to by name by any of the characters in The Empire Strikes Back.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.
