It's a little difficult to compare on a split screen.
Isn't there an easy way to only apply like 50% of your final settings...you know...like with an opacity slider?
Let me know what do you think of the sample script; then, if you will not like it, I'll try fix the contrast issue - I could also merge the BD contrast level, but regraded, with the last settings...

There will be ALWAYS some crush, unless the BD contrast level is left untouched... the fact is, untouched BD is not that good... now, we must find a right compromise, that's it, or leave the BD "as is" and just add grain (and eventually make a very fine color correction, but not touching contrast)...
Here you are my final2 attempt:

below this level, image seems too "foggy" for my tastes! (^^,)

Andrea, I say leave it at this and stamp it complete and ready for encoding.
I think this is a good compromise. What do you guys think?
I'd love to see a short video sample of frame #4.
Yes I agree with DoomBot and thegroovologist, it looks much better in terms of contrast, much more natural and filmic. I'd say go with those settings.
Thanks guys for the feedbacks!
Here you are a 30s 99MB test clip, as requested; if, after you have seen that, you all agree it's good enough, I'll use these settings for the final release.

I love it, very well done Andrea.
Awesome. Great job, Andrea.
Here we go!
Still waiting the final word from kk650, though...

I have a feeling kk650 will approve this one so warm the pc up. haha
DoomBot's right, I think that clip looks great. Go for it!
Thanks kk650, happy you like it!
DoomBot, actually my old pc is not warm, is literally on fire! After I can't remember how many weeks switched on, indeed he should rest for at least half a day... after I finished this very project, maybe! (-^,)
Well, now I'm pretty tired - ok, just 1:30 a.m. but I'm getting old... the most important thing is that the last setting has now THE general consensus - as the others members involved in this thread wrote nothing, it means they agree, I presume... so tomorrow I'll try to put audio tracks in sync... stay tuned for further updates!

Yeah i figured that much, i was just messing with you.
UPDATES:
I put in sync the italian, french and german audio tracks - for the latter, I was not able to find a 5.1 track, does is exist?
Tomorrow I'll finish the spanish track, plus I plan to capture the commentary track from LD BOX (finally!!!) still shrinkwrapped... it will be a gloriuos day!
I still miss the subtitles tracks, though... any help will be more than welcome!

The dvd has English 5.1 but i don't have it. Could just take the core of the 7.1 which would be 5.1.
Unless your talking about other languages for 5.1?
No problems for the english tracks; just wonder if there is a 5.1 german track; if not, I'll sadly be forced to include only the 2.0 one.

I own the German Kinowelt DVD. The German audio track is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 .

Finally!!! Post some pictures!
:)
Great project. The clip looks great. Well done once again Andrea.
Thanks to all!
UPDATE:
commentary track grabbed and sync'ed.
Do I have to capture the laserdisc AC3 track, too?!?

If you have it available and is not too much trouble, it would be nice to have I think. But that is just my opinion.
I knew it, it was just a rethorycal question... (^^,) I should just recapture the disc and put in sync but it will be quite easy... I'll post here when work will be done.
Foot note: in direct comparison to the LD (and DVD), even the untouched BD looks very cold...

So you finally did it...the shrink wrap is off!
Awesome...:)

Interesting...but don't tell us you're thinking about changing the settings again...;)
