Pretty sure mine is russian
Any chance you could make a few screengrabs of your HDTV version to check if it's the same as the 1080i broadcast?

No worries, worth a shot if it would help
Looks interesting .............. am I correct in guessing that you upscaled the Japan 720p to 1080p in the remastering?
Indeed - I couldn't locate the original 1080i feed of the Japan broadcast unfortunately. It does the trick though - I'll release both BDs, since each version has its pros and cons.

DVDMike ..... do you remember where you found this?
The 1080i version is available to download on Usenet.
Search for c-tadc on NZBCLUB. It is over 1400 days old.
It would have been usenet at least 2 years ago, but it was a week of google-fu to find it
Snaggin it now, thanks.
any chance of the laserdisc rip which has the JC approved 1.90:1 ratio?

Ever since James Cameron had adopted the use of the Super 35 format, he'd been framing for both widescreen and television safe, and there has been quite some discussion about how that sometimes compromises the compositions for one or the other more than if he just committed to framing specifically for one ratio. The pan-and-scan formatting often might improve a shot (e.g. the visibility of Jamie Lee Curtis' legs flailing as she hangs from the helicopter in a shot in True Lies, which adds an element of helplessness absent from the widescreen presentation). I would therefore be quite interested to see what this film looks like with a somewhat taller frame.
“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”
bigrob, you know that I'm interesting in doing that one... if Doc could make an unapproved 2.70:1 version, who am I to NOT do an approved 1.90:1 version based on laserdisc? (^^,)
Sadly my projects are lost due to an HDD crash… 😦 | [Fundamental Collection] thread | blog.spoRv.com | fan preservation forum: fanres.com

Which LD version is this? The one I have is 2:35:1 ratio but it is the Widescreen Extended Version, discs made in Japan.

Hey Doc, I was watching your comparison video and the first bit of footage is for the official 4:3 DVD, the second is 4:3 DVD upscaled and remastered and available for download (Version A).
I thought Version A is based on the anamophic R6 DVD?
I thought Version A is based on the anamophic R6 DVD?
It is - which itself was produced using a 4:3 source apparently!
