The AT-ST - sound effects request

 (Edited)

Hi guys, this will be an unusual request but I’m curious if there’s a documentary that anyone knows of that has an isolated effects track with sound only for an AT-ST. I am trying to grab the effects for something I’m putting together, so if there is such a segment from one of the Docs that you know of I’d really appreciate it.

I really doubt it. Your best bet would be to grab the actual sound file from a computer game.

Yeah, but the actual effect used in the film is available for download on the net if you know where to look.

I have 2 different pairs of the AT-ST walking effect. I'm just looking for a bit more variety without having to cut it all up so to speak...to save on time.

I find your lack of resourcefulness disturbing... zombie84 told you where to look... and that's where I found them - 4 sounds:

scroll down -> click on FREE -> wait few secs -> enter alphanumeric code and d/l
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Yea yeah..I've already got those two pair. I'm looking for more....that is...if... there's more and if there's any out there of higher quality. I've got probably a good 30 seconds to a minute to cover and having those 2 pair of sounds well...it will get a bit repetitious. I know I can bend the pitch and speed them up. I'm just curious if there's a solution already out there to save on time. But thanks for posting the links anyway. It's a shame I already have them.

In that case I take back my first sentence from my previous post

Those come from "Jedi Outcast" ("Jedi Academy" would use the same, no doubts to that). And I would bet that LEC used the same clips for previous "Jedi Knight" (extracting them could be tricky). No luck with "Behind the Magic" documentary discs either. I'm afraid that's all I could do. Anyway, good luck on your project.

BTW: there were at least two popular series of games (i.e. "Mechwarrior") - some sort of a simulator - dedicated to huge walking "robots". Too bad that LEC never made an AT-ST / AT-AT simulator (I don't mean arcade shooter like the "Battlegrounds", but a game more like "X-Wing").

Has there ever been a discussion on hear about making a sound effects archive? SFX come in very useful for reconstructing scenes (see Building Empire and Returning to Jedi) as well as for trailers.

Thanks

That's a good idea! I don't have any myself (that's why I'm asking), but that sort of stuff could probably all fit great on a CD-ROM, or maybe even a 99-track audio CD, depending on how things go. Should we start a thread for it?

The DVD-ROM bonus content in the editdroid version of ROTJ had several special effects. There are others available for download on the internet, but I can't remember where at the moment. I'll look and see if I can find the site I'm thinking of.

Thanks for the info! If you can find any, please post them here or make a new thread or pm me with them (or all three). Thanks again!

Do you want to do it Andy? I have lots of ongoing projects at the moment. I will of course provide any help I can.

Thanks

I could try, but I've got some other things I need to finish first before starting another project. I will keep it on my backburner, though. Thanks! I'm sure I'll ask for help when I get to it.
