It might be an idea to adjust the trooper's dialogue when Vader is choking the rebel near the beginning of the film.

At the moment he says, "The Death Star plans are not in the main computer" seeing as the battle station is meant to be a top secret project that might be too much information to share openly.

Changing it to 'stolen plans' might be obscure enough so that average Joe trooper can be allowed to hear in open discussion.

Has anybody ever thought of doing something about the repeat Greedo that shows up about 51 minutes in?

I've always found it very jarring to see a guy we just saw murdered walking around like it ain't nothin'. I remember pausing it as a kid and going "Look! See! He's alive!"

I know there's probably some EU explanation about traditional Rodian jumpsuits or something, but I'd rather see this dealt with.

I threw this together quickly, just to show the sort of thing I mean.

 I agree.

I really like the looks of that with the contrast between the planetary colors and the cold gray of the Death Star. Would love to see tiny dots of Imperial traffic darting around.

A quick idea i did fast :)

They arriving at the planet at night(dramatic lights) they attack at night (one shot) and the ceremony are at dawn.

Besides the hangar is way to dark so it can sell the concept

( i think one of Mc's paintings had a shot at night)

I don't like being "that guy", but both ways make the Death Star seem a bit small.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I know, but when you reveal something huge, you don't put it next to something much larger.

I love it! It's very new and you're absolutely right: the hangar is really dark. Now the battle seems harder to win, as the light goes down literally and metaphorically.

New 3d shot.

This was done quickly but you can already see that the shadows were eliminated bringing more info. new Corridor and air chairs added :)

Trivia. This piece was done just to see if the reflection on the holo ball was accurate and not having big reflectors from the studio. I was right :)

^^ Love it.

The ideas and additions/modifications you guys have made to that scene have all been pretty awesome.

One of my favorite fan vids are those scenes of Tarkin watching the new hologram. I'd love to see that incorporated into someones edit one day.

Good stuff.

I also dig Jaitea's removal of the socks.

Really nice ideas there Angel.

As for Death Star reveals, the station is compared to a small moon, which would make it smaller than an Earth sized planet (possibly even smaller than a moon sized moon) but I'm all for first reveals that make the station look really big, which is why I suggested we don't get a full reveal until the Falcon is caught in the Tractor Beam.

We could see bits and pieces (towers, windows, hangers etc) but not get the full enchilada until our heroes do.

Im interested about that. Im a bit lost in translation tho. :)

You suggest that the death star have always close ups and filling the screen until we get to the falcon and then have the great reveal?

If yes then some highlights of the surface could lead to the certain shots of the inside.

Still some key plot elements might suggest that we see the size of the station ( when it destroys the planet) still its artistic decision or direction how can you show that.

If you are more into it let me know :)

With the Alderaan destruction we do have the interior shots of the cannon warming up and firing down the tubes.

We could have a side shot view from a filtered window positioned near the dish to show the beams focusing over the disc and then the beam hitting the planet.

When we see the totality of the station we would then identify the dish as the main weapon.

If the the final firing idea is kept over from Ady has done you'd get a underlining of that function.

Thats for you Bingo :)

They irony enhanced. A small man can wield a power of such mass.

The room took his proper proportions without be a standout from the other close up shots :)

I like the idea of putting Tarkin alone there, to emphatize the autocracy that the Empire represents. Could you illuminate the room a little more, using imperial lighting on some walls or something ?

That would require a lot of new scenes, Death Star used every time as an establishing shot.

A new establishing shot would need to have something that the audience can instantly be informed that its 'the bad guy's base', I don't think each establishing shot should be bits and pieces, this would confuse the viewer (always keep in mind this could be their first screening of this movie)

With all due respect three is not a lot.

Thirty is a lot, three is is just one shy of a couple.

In the crawl we are told about the Death Star.

So if the audience sees a few details they will get the gist of where the story has moved to without having to see the whole station in one shot until our heroes do.

And when they do the audience like the characters should be knocked out at the scale of the station.

Well that's my opinion, though I recognise others exist with as much validity.
