I have just seen SUPERMAN REDEEMED. I must say, this re-edit is immensly impressive. Really, this is Superman III for me.

However, I a question: Do all owners of REDEEMED see what I see? Which is, the beggining of the film is out of sync. Perry, that lottery girl and Lois talk out of sync, and after a time, the sync is fine. Do all people have this prob?

Also, three complaints - very minor, though. I believe there were three scenes that could've been used but weren't. 1) The jail scene from IV. It could've been used to a minimal use, to show what happened to Lex after II, before the Otis scene. Anyway, no biggie. 2)I thought Superman going evil immediately after the scratch, was a bit too quick. The scene in IV with a sick Clark could've been used, to also show Lois showing some support. Of course, next we see evil Superman. That scene from IV could've been a good bridge, IMO - 3) The Pisa ending - I always loved that II ended in such a funny note. I wish this film ended that way, too. But no biggie here, too.

Anyway, I want to say, a dream has come true! Now, a Christopher Reeve Trilogy is a reality. Great, great re-edit.

4 out of 5 stars, overall.

I know you like to play your edits close the chest until released.
Perhaps you could tells us if the Feed The Babies v2 is going to be a change in the score, or are you planning a bit more?

FTBv2 will merely include the 1978 mix as an option. I considered re-editing what happened when the world turned back, but in the end, I simply love Superman: The Movie the way it is told. Until the KCOP cut gets a proper restoration, this will have to do.

I think Kracker has worked up something really nice here

Begging Jay's forgiveness, I'll link to this thread and he can remove it if it bugs him. I don't know if Kracker posts on this board or not but he's done some great stuff.

Yeah I noticed that too. A shame after the impressive titles.

I did not notice that. If it was, I think it was the original bad ADR work.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

One thing I'm curious about: I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but at the 3:52 mark, just as the planet explodes, there's a 'pop' in the audio. Is there something wrong with my speakers or was this simply a technical difficulty that was unavoidable for ADM?

I was re-watching the "Vergence of the Force" edit of TPM that he did (I still think it's an unwieldy, bad title, sorry ADM ) and I noticed this for the first time with my sub. I'm thinking it might have something to do with compression--it's not so much a pop as it is the low end has a very, very tight "THUMP" when it should be a smoother "boom" as it is on the retail dvd. That said, I didn't notice it when Krypton exploded, but I wasn't watching it on my 5.1 setup, either.

A little off-topic, but when I was grading the fan-edit competition last year, I gave Vergence lower marks than I think I should have. upon re-watching it, I'm pretty pleased with the flow, moreso than when I was grading. Maybe I was thinking a little too much like an editor and less like a plain old viewer, but I think I'd bump this up a grade and a half if I re-rated it now. I still think the "Hyperspace" cue is a little over-used during the podrace, sometimes more like a video-game loop than actual scoring, but the cut to the trench run cue really packed a punch this time.

Anyway, hoping DJ gets this up or ADM mails me the Superman Returns edit really, really soon, because I'm getting more anxious by the day. Seriously. As in I'm daily checking both the inbox AND the mailbox

Damn, and I recently just finished grabbing Redeemed and was about to watch it this weekend... is there really a flaw that's going to have to be fixed?

I didn't see any lip-flap in redeemed, at least none that pulled me out of the flick. I'm of the opinion if people are seeing it, it's from the retail dvd, meaning it's from the original ADR done on the flick.

Can I ask about the opening credits in REDEEMED? Does everyone experience this?

The footage stucks for a moment, but the music goes on. For instance, while a credit flies, the screen will stay that way, and then move again.

Does anyone see this?

If there's any flaw, it's in the source. I thought the sync was okay myself. It could be an issue of the player stuttering around an edit point but I'm watching my copy right now for me it checks out perfectly.

There is some definite out of sync AV about Lois' return from vacation as I edited the audio there. Mostly it's masked by the filing cabinets they're walking behind. Aside from a couple spots like that, the AV is 100% in sync with the source.

Thing is, the credits DO seem to stuck here and there. ADM, are the opening credits in your original smooth? Or does the image freeze for a while.

It's not from the retail DVD, it's definitely something gone bad with the encode at that point.

There are parts where it seems to stutter, but it is actually the background plate, which is how the original Oxford Scientific footage was. I know the part you're talking about. A very blue part that appears behind Mark Pillow's name and later behind the name of the writers.

Or were you talking about a different part? I watched it again and isn't a problem in the actual titles.
