The '04 OT on Spike TV

I noticed Spike TV plays the '04 OT (destroyed trilogy to some) but the picture quality seems higher resolution than the '04 DVDs. First of all, did LFL make Spike TV play the '04 versions only? Second, is it in HD, I can't tell because I was watchting it on a 480i tube TV at the time.

From what I understand, you are not even allowed to air the originals anymore, or at least LFL recalled all copies of it so that the SE was the only one that could be aired. I suppose this may have been done again with the 2004 SE.

Something kind of funny, in 2005, the week before ROTS was released, TBS aired all of the OT. At this point I still hadn't had a chance to see the new '04 changes, so while flipping through channels and happening across ANH, I decided to stick around and see the new Jabba, but it turned out that it was the 1997 SE. Ha, stupid TBS playing the "unfinished" version of the film. Since the 2004 SE was only released half a year or so before, I can't help but feel that maybe LFL decided they didn't want to provide people the luxery of the lovely new changes without them paying for the DVDs.

Don't forget he did not just add cgi to star wars trilogy and destroy the originals.  He has also ruined THX 1138 with no original being even on dvd,  he added cgi to the opening of graffiti.

He even added cgi to the broadcast of Raiders of the Lost Ark.  True in American Graffiti and Raiders it is a single shot replaced, but the tinkering was neither wanted or needed.

Never mind the Digital scrubbing or dvnr Lucas has done to the DVD versions to remove the film grain to Make the movies look like they were shot on HD video and not film.  Also recolor grading the films.

It is so stupid that the only non butchered versions exist on Laserdisc and are non anamorphic.
