Even though I’m not a ST movie fan, the IV poster is so 80’s I gotta love it. It’s so cheesy and you’re not certain if it’s ugly or pretty which makes it better than it is.

It makes me wonder why they select such hideous cover art when it would presumably be cheaper just to use existing poster art, which often looks far superior. I don’t get it. What corporate focus group thinks that Batman Returns of all things would sell better if it had that as its artwork?

Since they are comissions, I’d say the latter. Many studios even sell them as posters commercially and they are always copyrighted to the studio.
