DrCrow, please don't requote all of a large image post in the very next post. You keep doing it.

I always disliked these.

Yeah those are awful, I hate the fact that they used those on the Blurays.  When compared to the VHS and Laser Discs, which used the great classic movie posters they just look insanely stupid.

I mean just compare those to these.

 alright, you asked for it.

I think we can do better (or worse) than that. This may not be as long, but its 100% more insane! From http://heaven.internetarchaeology.org/heaven.html  presenting something that makes no sense whatsoever. (Disclaimer: If the following offends you, I apologize, I am religious myself.)

Danfun, do you also love the soup and the bread, or just the bunny?

Use of the bunny outside off topic is getting out of hand.
When outside off topic, use a link to the bunny if you really feel the need to invoke it.
Warnings will be next if some restraint is not shown.

There, I took the whole overly long picture gag to it's logical conclusion. Perhaps we can go back to looking at horrible cover art now?

There -- now we're set.

Doubt that the sun doth move,
Doubt truth to be a liar,

Oh I own that Paths of Glory disc and I hate the cover so much.

If they are not going to use the poster the CC cover at least gets the spirit of the movie across without any spoilers.

That can't be real. Nooo... What-why-who? HOW?

I really...it's not even the right version of the ship?! Surely that's not real.

Anyone care to inform this non-Trekkie what's so bad about it (aside from the ship being the wrong model, as mentioned by timdiggerm)?

It's a bunch of stock photos that make no sense when put together, and it doesn't reflect the product being bought.

Back before the internet I went into most VHS rentals or purchases blind based on the box art and if I had gotten that, i would assume it a movie made at the time the series was on the air or a couple episodes of the series edited together, I mean Spock is even ten year younger on the back for crying out loud.  In short I would be really mad, it's not like there isn't a ton of stock art from the movie out there that could have been used.

What is more they used the movie poster on the spine, so would it really have been too much trouble to just google image search for a bigger version of that???

It makes no sense, seeing as all other releases besides the Bluray just use the movie poster it must have taken them more effort to create this garbage then it would have just to reuse the old art work, so why do it?

It makes no sense and it is ugly and misleading.

Why does this thing exist?

Oh and I just notice that the still frames from the movie on the back are widescreen format squished to fullscreen so everyone looks really out of shape and tall.

Again, why???

It took more effort to mess up the still shots then it would have just to place them there not messed up, so why do it????

It has to be a fan made cover. Paramount's current Trek DVD covers are way too bland, and even this botch job requires too much effort on their part. ;)

The big picture of Spock is his costume from the TV show, not the film.

The only planet they visit in the film is Earth, not that Archipelago-mess behind the Enterprise.

Also that's just some bad looking CG.

The barcode and spine logo are from the wrong Generation.

Yeah this cover keeps getting uglier the more I think about it.  I have no idea why anyone would create this thing.

Apart from the squished thumbnails on the back, it's a very well designed cover. It's just the image selections that are wack. Makes me think it's a joke.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

My thoughts too. I would expect more Star Wars references on it though.

A U.K dvd release of Dracula (1931)

Someone felt the need to add a see-through fang to Bela.

(The film itself is rather good if I remember correctly)

Love how they've spelled "Orson Welles" with only one "E" for an extra touch of class.

And this is the only Disney movie I think has truly beautiful animation.  Shame... I mean, they're not even aligned with each other according to the rules of symmetry.
