Kev, you just love setting people straight when they have gone off-topic don't you?
Anyway, here is a summary of my previous posts from the thread deemed the wrong place to discuss T4 by Kev:

I said that T4 is a bad idea, although if they tell the story of John Connor leading the humans against the machines, it will be both a sequel to T3 and a prequel to the original.

Shimraa then said that was wrong because the war that started at the end of T3 was not the same war mentioned in T1 and T2.

I then said that if that is the case, then we have a paradox on our hands because if the original war from T1 and T2 never happened, and Arnie never went back to 1984 to kill sarah connor, meaning that Kyle never went back to save her, meaning that Sarah and Kyle never got it one, meaning John was never born....

I hate it when Hollywood does time travel and cocks it up.

There was also some mention in the othe rthread that Arnie would not be in T4!!! That simply cannot happen. Either get Arnie on board or (my preferred choice) don't make T4.

I mean, who can replace Arnie? The F**cking Rock?

Conclusion: T4=Bad

War does not make one great.

Amen.

But, then again, I've been of the opinion that anything beyond the original Terminator has been a bad idea. I disliked T2 (save for the badass acting job by Robert Patrick). I hated T3. If they had stuck with just the original movie, then none of these time travel "cock ups" would have occurred.

Yeah, Robert Patrick was great. They could have easily just gotten another big muscly Arnie type to play the T-1000 but he really put his mark on that role. I also though he was excellent as Doggett in the X-Files when Mulder went missing. As a die hard X-files fan since the first episode, I wasn't too sure about giving Scully a new partner, but he really won me over.
Best not to start talking about X-Files in the Terminator thread though - Kev will get mad.

just to clarify which war is which. The war that started at the end of t3 ways the war called judgement day. The war that is referred to in t1 and t2 is the war against the machines. Sarah Conner's V/O at the beginning of t2 explains all that. Judgement day was the nuclear war that killed 3 billion lives in one day. The war against the machines started sometime after that. But you're right t4 would be a bad idea. t3 was bad enough to kill the franchise

So Switch, that means that a movie about an adult John Connor leading humans against the machines would be a sequel to T3 but also a prequel to T1, right? We might even see Kyle getting sent to 1984.
Still, Bad idea.
Maybe I could just about stomach a graphic novel.

Back in 2003, Nick Stahl and Clare Danes officially signed on for T4. In my opinion I think it's a bad idea for making more films in the franchise. After the disappointing T3 they shouldn't make anymore. I was convinced that they made T3 for the money and the Terminator series was made by James Cameron and only James Cameron. Jonathon Mostow (whatever) screwed up on the Terminator Franchise and Arnie is just way too old for the part (I still loved those jokes "The Pensionator" lol) . Better leave the franchise alone than rather worsen it with more movies.

Terminator 4 is a bad idea in ways you can't begin to imagine.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

So... T3 = Bad.

Robert Patrick was great in T2. His character in the game The Dig has the following dialogue, when another character is missing:

"Have you seen this boy?"
"What?"
"Uh... nevermind."

“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I liked the first two Terminators, but T3 was one of those rare sequels that not only was bad, but ruined the first two as well. It stole all the hope for the future which was a big part of 3. I couldn't stand to see them run this series in the ground anymore.

Yep. Just remember that should you become tempted to rent it.

Would the Governator be in it? I just can't see him acting again now that he is a public official.

The Gubernator!!

Hearing all this bad stuff being said of T3 just makes me think of the Arnie from Conan O' Brien saying: "Dee smahsh heet summah blockbustah T3 RISE OF DA MACHINES!!! DEE NUMBAH ONE MOVIE!!!!! EET'S THE GREATEST AHCTION MOVIE IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!"

why was T3 bad, i thought it did exactly what it was made for the entertain people, it didnt haev any really bad acting or really bad lines. and it did further the story. i was saying that the new war was different because wasnt the old war completely avirted by the events in T2. what witht he arm being distroyed and all. see i think the point they were getting through thou was that a war between man a machines was going to happen it was jsut a matter of when. thats why i feel this is a different war, the war that they refer to in T1 snd T2 started in 1996 or something, this new war started much later.

I've only seen chunks of T1 and T2, but T3 was pretty good. It won't knock your socks off but it's worth a rental.

And it sets up brilliantly for T4.

my point exactly, for them no to make T4 would be stupid, thney set up the end of T3 so that it would have a sequel.

Meh, maybe I'm just not a big Terminator fan, but I thought T3 was awful?

Maybe I only enjoyed it because I've not been fully exposed to the plot-hole-filled supposed greatness of the first two.

Or because of TX being a gorgeous blonde...

I just didn't like the overall movie, it seemed kinda pointless to me.

arent all movies like that though, you start with somebody good, then something bad happens and at the end of it, everything is good again.

I meant it was kinda pointless to make as well.
