Terminator 1 & 2 Projects (Released) — Page 6

Hi,

Just joined the forum. There are some great projects going on here! I'm a big fan of the Terminator films and the detailed info in this thread caught my eye.

I guess this is tenuously related to the restoration of these films, as it's to do with an edit to the music on The Terminator. I've just been listening to the "Definite Edition" of Brad Fiedel's excellent soundtrack for The Terminator (released by Cinerama in 1994) and noticed that the remix created by Bill Wolford for this release features some music cut from the film at the request of director James Cameron.

Definite Edition on Discogs: http://www.discogs.com/Brad-Fiedel-The-Terminator-The-Definite-Edition/release/529146

On this CD, track 11 - 'Escape from Police Station' - includes the heroic theme which James Cameron thought would detract from the tension of that scene... Brad Fiedel explains all in the "Terminator - Other Voices" documentary, but you don't get to hear the original music he's referring to.

It was a pleasant surprise to hear exactly what Fiedel was referring to on the Cinerama CD. I guess this was inadvertently included because they remixed the soundtrack from the multi-tracks for this disc. I just put together a brief audio file featuring a clip of Brad Fiedel talking about this music edit, along with an excerpt of the track in question.

Would be happy to share this with the community if it's of any interest? Not sure if it's possible to attach files to posts here. I could put it up on dropbox if you prefer. Thanks for any info on this.

David.

I requested an invitation earlier but no response. Hoping I can be one of the lucky ones and get an invite.

Same here.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I too, would love to have an invite. Is there a dedicated thread somewhere for invites? I hate cluttering up a thread like this.

I don't mind that you ask in our threads, this to me is ok, I just do not care at all to read about other peoples projects in our thread, so ask away.

Wow, what an AWESOME project. I'm only watching T2 bit by bit at the moment, and the picture quality and sound quality is excellent. I'm not sure exactly what you have done with the picture, but it looks miles better than my two blu-rays that I own (I only own the Skynet edition and the first region a mpeg2 blu-ray releases), so there was quite a lot more detail in the picture in this than I have seen before. Also, the colour looks fantastic.

Of the three audio mixes, I opted to listen to the CDS mix, as I haven't really heard it for a long time. I definitely feel with the CDS mix, that I have noticed little things here and there, which I think may have been buried a little more in the later mixes. The music sounds as though it has a little bit more 'oomph' to it and is maybe clearer in parts - it seems to have maybe a bit more separation compared to the newest mixes, and maybe not quite as buried in some scenes, and I really like that!

All in all, I think Team-Blu have done a stellar job with this - this is well and truly the ultimate preservation of Terminator 2!

Thank you dark_jedi and all those involved in Team-Blu!

I too would love an invite. T1 has become a favorite of mine since seeing it with the mono mix on LD, and T2 never seems to get a definitive treatment despite the multitudes of releases through the years.

I would very much like to see this project in action. Would an invite be possible from one of the kind souls here? Terminator 1 is in my top 5 of all time and while I own the Japanese Blu of T2, I would very much like to hear the CDS Mix. Thank you in advance.

I am only 1 guy, I am not everywhere looking at everything, plus when I run out I need to get more, so comments like this will not help your chances.

Yeah, to make clear, invites on Blu-torrents do not work like on Spleen. They do not automatically accumulate, you earn bonus points with which you buy invites. I offered to invite a few of you not realizing this - sorry about that.

Damn! Not only are these hugely impressive, but they reveal a total care for both films and how they should have been treated by their studios. Outstanding work guys.

I still miss the extended portions of T2 though. The brain chip and smiling scenes should have never been dropped theatrically IMO.

T2 is at a disadvantage because it has never gotten a 4K scan, so it's amazing how great it looks here.

I do wonder, when we finally get that Cameron-approved (probably overly teal?) 4K-sourced remaster we've been promised for years, will there be any chance of a version 2.0?

In this case I would l think so, well at least a 2.0 of the video so it can be swapped out.
