Well, maybe that's simply because he was just a glorified extra, really. No dialogue, about 10 seconds of screen time.

There is no lingerie in space…

C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

While you're at it ask for one for Apocolypse Now/Redux.... the Extended Lord of the Rings flicks.... The Godfather Saga.... E.T. (Cops with guns and now with Radios!) Close Encounters of the Third Kind... Bladerunner..... any movie with "Directors Cut" on the box....

Why? This is a Star Wars site.

I agree with vote_for_palpatine.

Just to clarify, I was responding to JediRandy. I wouldn't have a problem with the separation of the various Star Wars editions - I was saying that fans of those other movies can make that case themselves.

But a note to IMDB should not come off as if it's all about Star Wars. Their site is all about movies. So, while using Star Wars as an example is great ... the appeal should be made that the issue applies to a great many films and thus serves more of the sites viewers than merely the Star Wars nerds.

THX's short but sweet note was the best written so far, imo. It uses Star Wars as an example, but makes a larger case why IMDB should be open to the suggestion.

"I would therefore like your website to offer separate ratings for special edition movies and their original theatrical versions. This will help new viewers to realize there are other versions of a movie, and guide them to the most popular edition. It will also allow your voters to express their true opinions."

Doesn't imdb have an "alternate versions" tab for movies already?

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

The "alternate versions" link just has a description. There is no way to give seperate ratings for each version of a film. I think it's a great idea. I'd love to see how each version of "Legend" rates. I gave it an 8 because I was voting for the director's cut.

http://www.imdb.com/poll/results/2005-09-23
http://www.imdb.com/poll/results/2004-12-21

Two polls dealt with which order to see all Star Wars movies and they were landslides for different results.

If I write a letter to IMDB, it woud be to suggest giving each movie a breakdown rating. So the heading of "Star Wars" would take all votes no matter which version people voted for, but with a breakdown showing which version of the film got the most votes.

Star Wars (1977)
Star Wars Special Edition (1997)
Star Wars Revised Edition (2004)

Well, chances might be the IMDB moderators will actually listen to us, because recently, they made a new page for Superman II due to the release of a new cut this year on DVD.

Yes, like I keep saying, we really don't want to piss him off.

And would the IMDB really listen to us?
