Who is rastous? An admin? Whose authority did he delete it on? It was not uploaded by “we” (the team), but by Mr. Nice Guy. Did Nice Guy comply with the team’s demand or did they pull some strings?

In that case, that’s outrageous. Trying to delete their history by removing torrents and trying to get these threads locked? I would say we should just re-upload all their shit, but it looks like they might try to go over the uploaders’ heads and beg the admins. Wtf?

Also, I had no idea that the site log was a thing. Useful for mysteriously disappearing torrents.

Lol, it’s fine.

Really though, thanks for pointing out these deletions. I was just discussing in another thread the fact that older releases can eventually go unseeded, unhosted, etc. So, grab things while they’re available. I didn’t take into account that an idiotic team might go about erasing their own stuff. Let’s make sure these releases stay available.

Williarob hasn’t deleted his own torrents. A few days ago I made a statement about the team being much better off without Negative1. And then sort of retracted that. Unretracted. Guys: ditch that fool. You can do it without him.

I honestly don’t know. Seems to me that only the original poster can delete his upload, unless it had zero seeds for some amount of time, and then an admin from spleen will huff the torrent link. I assume rastous is a member of TN1…i would have to guess that spleen pm’d Nice Guy for permission to huff. In any case…its not my business…I was just sharing info…

Looks like Rastous is a mod. Mr. Nice Guy didn’t delete it himself, so presumably Negative1 messaged Rastous and he did a favor.

…but that goes against normal etiquette. You don’t huff a torrent unless it goes against the sites’ rules…or it had been abandoned and there are no seeders…OR if the ORIGINAL COPYRIGHT HOLDER threw up a C&D order…but since TN1 is not the owner of the source material (that would be mouse and rat)…I would have to go with the thought that Mr. NG was contacted. At least I hope so, if it was me and there was no good reason for my post to be deleted…I would be pissed and would immediately up the file to usenet, private and public torrents just to be a pain in the ass…

if you think about it…some people PREFER ‘grindhouse releases’ over cleaned/polished versions…we all know this…in a weird sense this is just like Lucas saying “well, this was not my INTENDED finished product, but I want all copies of pre-existing copies destroyed from history” … lol

Yeah, it’s confusing and we don’t have all the details. But, if you look at any torrent that’s deleted by the uploader, it is clearly stated as such in that log.

Edit: well now I do have the details and I was correct.

I think “35mm ESB 2013 Private Screening Edition” aka “ESB DCP 2013.torrent”
was the only deleted one not already on usenet.
Anybody want to see it there?
IIRC that one was seeded by Williarob

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I don’t like this turn of events. not good reasons for deleting torrents.

Perhaps an ex-team member (TN1, not Team Ollie) is going to finally post v3, AKA Sanitized. It was ready to go over 3 months ago. Of course, they could have labelled the existing ESB verions as “deprecated” or something, instead of deleting them. But I can see not leaving them as-is – they’re a mess. Grindhouse, Deconstructed, Previews, Private Screening, etc.

Grindhouse, Deconstructed, Previews, Private Screening, etc. Plus Harmy’s tweaked v2, even though I never saw a v2 posted in this thread.

Except that’s not what happened. If you’ll look a little earlier in the log of deletes:

“Torrent 20427 (Star Wars Technicolor and Empire Strikes Back Sanitized 35mm Previews 2016 - Team Negative1) was edited by IcyFlamez”

The subsequent round of deletes was a temper tantrum in response to this one, which happened following the Verta controversy (the head admin deleted it, on that occasion).

Wow, Ok, I see that. Well, THAT sucks.

#3 Pete’s print preview wasn’t deleted, it’s “temporarily disabled”
but still listed in NiceGuy’s profile

Apologies if I’ve missed something (I’ve had trouble following all this, I don’t torrent), but are we saying N1 threw a tantrum? Because that doesn’t sound like him at all!

Also, Team Ollie is disbanded. We couldn’t think of any clever images to post like that one Rogue One posted, so we disbanded in shame.

Team Negative1 : Presents

The Empire Strikes Back - Grindhouse (version 2-DCP sourced)

Welcome to our second official release, the 35mm version
of The Empire Strikes Back.

January 2015,

As a thank you to the OT community, and our fans, we are
releasing another early version of the movie. We hope that
people everywhere can view the original version as
Lucas released it back in 1981.

We understand there is still a need for the fully restored
version to be completed. However, we think that documenting
the other prints we have is also needed for historical
perspective. Some, but, not all of the flaws are kept intact
to be indicative of the condition of the print.

Format : WMV

    VIDEO : 1080p
AUDIO : From Japanese Special Collection laserdisc(?)

Where : Currently, it will be uploaded to MySpleen

x parts as multiple files, with PAR files for correction.

    We anticipate releases on a.b.StarWars

Done

My thoughts exactly. What container and codec is the best for such a project? Matroska x264?

Done as in look for it on MySpleen, or done as in “stick a fork in it”?

Done as in look for it on Usenet (the last line in the quote).

'spleen torrent is done as in deleted,
but we think that that original original vision (OOV) should be preserved
