Half of those comments are our own replies, the rest are just thank you's, and not any real content.

We haven't had any comments about scenes, artifacts, issues, or anything else. for Empire Strikes Back. Star Wars had more comments, but all those issues have been addressed already.

Which leads us to gauge the interest in Empire Strikes Back is not as high.

Yes. This is just clean up of the print.

Here was a previous status update:

Speaking for myself, I am more interested in Empire Strikes Back than A New Hope. Extremely excited for all 3, but Empire is the most I am looking forward to.

Are any of the previews from the Fuji print? I would be interested in a preview from the Fuji; correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you've even shown us any stills from the Fuji yet?

There have not been any previews of the newer Fuji print yet.

How much work (scanning, damage removal, etc.) is done on the Fuji print? Or has it not been worked on at all yet?

I can't speak for everyone, but personally:

1. My laptop isn't powerful enough to watch these clips, and my desktop computer isn't connected to speakers or Internet, so I haven't been watching them as often as I used to.

2. While I love ESB, and am looking forward to the Silver Screen release (or whatever it ends up being called)...I know I say this a lot, but I think the Grindhouse looks great just how it is. Possibly could use a little more color correction, but regarding the cleanup, the dirt and scratches don't bother me one bit.

3. I know this project is a side-project, testing out processes that will be applied to the other (better) print, and you're looking for technical feedback. Not quite my area of expertise =)

The new Fuji print has been scanned, but no work has been done on it.

It will be the main focus after Star Wars.

The cleaned Grindhouse will hold people over until its done. This is for people that prefer not to be distracted by the dust, dirt, and scratches.

To come after you guys Disney would probably get a lot of bad press.  I'm sure they will wait until after the new film to come after you all.

That's reassuring. Just when I got over my irrational fear of bearded men in plaid flannel shirts coming after me!

Where were you in '77?

Likely due to the amount of changes made in A New Hope and Return of The Jedi special editions. Empire's changes were minimal compared to those two and some of us are happy with Harmy's Despecialized Edition of Empire. I'm interested in all three films, however. :)

Status Update:

=======================

Reel 2 is done with about 95% clean pass.

Reels 5 and 6 should be done in about 2 weeks.

Since only a few people replied, we'll release the whole thing in a month or two.

Is there any clip or frame that you would say is representative of how the final version will look (color/contrast, cleanup, stabilization, everything)?

Are these status updates for the Fuji print? Or is that not coming out until after Star Wars, and this is just going to be a cleanup of the Eastman print?

This should still be the Eastman stuff. Certainly interested in seeing some progress on the Fuji instead.

Currently, we only have time to do clean up on the Eastman print. There will be a slight color correction on the later reels.

The main focus is on Star Wars. When we are ready to start on Empire, you will see samples then. Probably later this year or early next year.

This can serve as a basis for anyone wiling to do further work on them. In the meantime it is a step up to make the Grindhouse much easier to watch.

We would have all replied but it would have broke the internet.

Yeah, and quite a few of us are in teams now, so who knows how many of us responded?

Well, I have a team, but we don't post as one... ;)

I love the Grindhouse release and can't wait for the final version.

Had some of my oldest friends over for a 'genuine' 1980's experience for Empire - they loved it!

Badges?!? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges…

I showed the grindhouse to my cousins a few weeks ago. My uncle half-joking said something like "This is a bootleg!" and referenced that a few times. However, the night was a success, and being able to see the detail on a screen bigger than any I have at home was wonderful.

Nobody sang The Bunny Song in years…
