Why would you not use the iso, then?

What it sounds like you're asking for would be for someone to download the iso and convert it into MKV format so you can convert it back to a blu-ray iso format. Is it a matter of not being able to add subs to the blu-ray easily? Still seems like the best option would be to use the corrected iso and play with that, rather than have someone make a new 20 gig upload for you.

The thing is there are no subs to use with the ISO. And someone said that the ISO and the 1080p MKV have different timing, so I can't use the MKV subs with the ISO.

I don't need any help, I'd just like to know if the team made a MKV with the corrected end scene. If not, I won't bother anyone.

Currently we don't have a corrected version in an mkv format with subtitles, sorry. However, the correction to the end scene was the only change, so that should not impact the rest of the film.

Thank you. And thanks again for all your work !

Happy Star Wars day !

Colors look amazing. So much better than the washed out GOUT.

Looks great!  My only critique/suggestion is to try to recover more of the blacks.  It is hard to see details like Darth Vader and anything dark.

Let me begin by saying that I have no fond childhood memories of any of the Star Wars movies, which might seem strange for someone born in the '70s. I don't think I even sat through any of the OT from start to finish until the early 2000's and I certainly didn't know they were "special editions" at the time. And while I enjoyed all three of them I never really viewed them as something special, from the standpoint of movie production, story telling and acting.

Last night I sat through the Grindhouse ESB and I was TRANSPORTED!

All the visuals and all the sound and all the pace and emotion, they all came together in this "unaltered version". This wasn't just some BS "blockbuster movie", it was a film! And a fine one at that.  I finally get why the OT is so highly regarded by so many people on this planet. And I can officially count myself as one of them.  :-)

FANTASTIC work Team Negative1 !!

These pictures illustrate exactly the issue I wanted to point out.  There are details in the darker areas that are being crushed into black (the first picture has more details than the second in each pair)...

Picture 1: whole left side is dark and you can't see the trees

Picture 2: bottom right corner can't see anything

Picture 3: bottom right corner, can't see the engine

Picture 4: Looks ok

Picture 5: Bottom area between the guys is to dark and can't see the details

Picture 6: Top area is too dark.  Is that a guy in the upper left corner or what?

Picture 7: same as picture 6 (duplicate)?

Picture 8: Can't see details in Dark Vader ;-)

Hope this helps!  Otherwise it looks great!  Just boost the lower end to not crush the dark areas into black.  In Adobe Levels, move the left arrow over to the right when stuff starts showing up on the curve to make the black stuff black, then move the middle arrow to the left a bit to boost the dark areas up so they aren't so dark.

I tend to agree with the blacks being crushed in those pictures. There seems to be not much if any detail left there. But it also seems to me that the overall image is somewhat on the dark side (heh) which could also lead to loss of detail in the shadow areas.

Are these the definitive levels or is this also just temporary for showing purposes?

Anyway, thank you guys for your hard work, you guys rock :)

Hopefully the right balance can be found to have the proper inky blackness of space, the deep rich darkness of Vader's robes and so on, and yet retain good shadow detail, the texture of the cloth and such. Though if, due to limitations of the sources currently available, a choice had to be made between more apparent detail in darker areas, but then the black levels being less than they should be and washed out; I'd say having true black levels where they should be and a bit less shadow detail is less harmful to the overall appearance. Hopefully we can have both. :)

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

I think all of you know that these are just temporary comparisons intended to show the results of the cleanup. We don't put up all the disclaimers anymore, because people tend not to read them.

The final versions will have some color correction done to them.

Contrast and brightness will be adjusted also. See the latest example of the Star Wars clips.

Very nice. It seems that after artifact clean-up and colour correction, one of your next obstacles is flicker. How do you correct for that?

Great!  I figured speak now or forever hold my peace.  While I am at it, some of the corners are round so I would suggest cropping a bit tighter so they are square.  ;-)  I really love the work you are doing, and I am just giving my feedback to help maximize the quality of the final product.

Thanks for all the comments. There will be cropping done at a latter stage to be more theatrical.

This sample made me smile.  The detail I saw reminded me of how I felt about Star Wars when I was a kid.  It looks ..... real.  Thank you.

We are still working on the cleanup pass for ESB 3.1, but it will take awhile to do the color correction. We will keep you posted on the progress.
