The cropping differences are there, but not as much as it might seem. These are not matching frameshots.

We have not cropped our shots yet, but will do so to match the theatrical presentation.

Continuing our private screenings, there will be one of this movie, (using a mix of reels from the 3 versions) hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

Right!

People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society.

The final part of the Trilogy was screened last night. While it was a little rough in places, overall it looked great. Vibrant colors and great sound helped. There are many video previews of it. More details will be posted shortly.

Status Update:

===========

Although its too early to start work officially on this. A workprint using parts from 3 different prints was used for preview purposes.

A test of basic cleanup passes will be done on the various parts. This will be for internal use of the team.

This is just to gauge what needs to be done when its time to start work on the project. The results will be mentioned.

Near the end, you will see the original scenes with Darth Vader taking off his helmet, and also the Force Ghosts at the very end.

Most of the scenes have a blue tint in them.

Looks very "soft" and "blurry" to me. But still better than the official bluray :)

Pretty sure it's the smoky natue of that scene though.

Badges?!? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges…

There's no artificial sharpening. And the generational loss in the 35mm printing process must have reacted with the smoke, making things fuzzier. This is still how it would have looked in the theater.

I think Jedi is pretty important to preserve considering how butchered the film was with all the special editions. It was my favourite of the three as a child but now I think I like them all just the same.

I share this opinion, I do not like Jedi any less than New Hope or Empire. In some ways it is my favorite, in others it is not. I always feel like watching all 3 together and feel weird if I only watch one at a time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. ROTJ is my favorite of the three.

Probably not my favorite, but the most nostalgic to me, having grown up watching it the most. And indeed the most mutilated of the three by the SEs (and, so far, the least represented by the great reconstruction/preservation projects around here).

I think it would be weirder for me to watch all 3 together. Sounds like a mess ;)

But only half as much of a mess as this.

Yeah, I don't do it often, but after I finish one film I always wanna start the next as soon as I get done with it. haha I don't always though. Just sometimes.
