Taxi (1978-1983) - Seasons 4 and 5 uncut episodes preservation

The last two seasons of Taxi were bastardized when they were released on DVD with several episodes edited due to music rights issues either with songs replaced or scenes cut entirely of characters singing or performing something. Fortunately several of these edits were undone when the show came to streaming on Hulu and so people had the chance to see them uncut again. Unfortunately, similar to the original 90210, there are entire episodes missing as well (seasons 1-3 are affected by this as well but the DVD releases thankfully are uncut for those seasons) due to music rights, so as a result for some episodes that were edited on DVD, they didn’t get the chance to be seen uncut on streaming again.

The point of this thread is to try to acquire the episodes that were edited on DVD but not restored on streaming sites. If anyone has perhaps a syndicated recording that at least has the musical performances intact that would be lovely.

If you go sailing on the high seas, you can find “Taxi Season 1-5” that was shared in 2012. It includes the first 16 episodes of Season 4 as aired in syndication. The other episodes are all from the DVDs, however. I don’t know which episodes are missing music/edits. If you’re aware of such a list, sharing it would be much appreciated.

I remember going through a couple of season 4 episodes on streaming that were edited on DVD and I remember Vienna Waits had scene cut on DVD where two characters sing the Billy Joel song Vienna and then throughout the episode the song itself plays in the transition scenes, as I said earlier this was changed on DVD but it was uncut on streaming

Nina Loves Alex had a scene where Alex sings that was cut on DVD but restored on streaming

There were a few others I noticed but those are the ones I know off the top of my head

the entire show run was added to Paramount+ as of February 2023, all episodes are uncut too (minus the Taxi Celebration clip show episode which is still two parts) so the original versions are no longer exclusive to syndication or old network recordings
