New Animated short (?) / fan (?) film / series (?) coming live tomorrow (?)

Great teasing and truly great pictures !

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

WTF!!

I just saw the website.

Is this even a Lucasfilm/Lucas animation thing. I'm sure it would have their trademark all over it if it was.

If it is true and judging by those pictures if they bring back Boba Fett post ROTJ that's just lame.

Those statues are from Gentle Giant. OT characters done in the style of the Clone Wars 2-D Cartoon.

They are certainly modelled on the Gentle Giant series. Maybe it's just a trailer for some new merchandise.

That Boba shot looks like the scene from TESB in which Han (in carbonite) is loaded onto Slave 1. There are only two shots that don't look OT orientated. Certainly looks interesting.

Looks interesting. If it's a fan film, it could get crazy. The last time a fan film tried to go animated at this level it was squashed by LucasFilms. It was a Clone Wars animation based on the Cartoon Network's work.

So I guess tomorrow we'll find out for sure.

WOW! That is different! But in a good way.

Funny thing that this site is just being talked about EVERYWHERE right now.Do we think that there is a possibility that LFL has kept this under wraps for release on the anniversary or due to the lack of any LFL trademarks on the site is it fan-made?

Yeah definately based on the Gentle Giant designs.

And I think it's definately fan made (which I think is kinda cool)

Edit: Actually C3PO was a design from the 2nd Genndy Tartakovsky series.

It's interesting to note that starwars.com front page is currently showing a banner for starwarsshop with the very gentle giant characters as featured on the mystery website. Hmm.

The intrigue continues............
I know there has been a lot of very impressive fan-made stuff made but isn't the stuff on the site VERY professional looking for fan-made?Particularly the colours in that shuttle shot?

Maybe this is what George Lucas meant by 3D. I read a year or two ago, when the discussion of making the movies 3D first started, and Lucas said they had come up with a way to do it without making it a chore to watch it. For some reason I always that that he meant by 3D to make the films look something like Toy Story animation. I am not sure why I thought this is what he meant, but that is what I thought.

Well, the official site is now saying there there will be a "must see surprise" on sunday. I wonder if they are connected. Actually it looks like the announcement with be related to the Clone Wars animated series.

I read elsewhere that the talesofthenewrepublic webiste did have a hidden email link on it yesterday. The email address was a gmail one, so people are speculating that this must indeed be a fan made project. Having said they there are some answered questions:

- If this is unofficial, why haven't LFL come down on them like a tonne of bricks?
- Why do Gentle Giant list their maquettes as "Star Wars Animated"?
- Why can't I just wait until tomorrow?

I think the reason they haven't come down on the makers of the fanfilm is because they don't know the extent of the animation for one. The audio could suck too. If the overall project is professional, then they could possibly be in for a cease and desist. I suppose it's all up to what happens herein.

Personally I think the fact that the site shows very clearly a LOT of trademarked LFL images such as the alliance symbol and imperial cog and there has been no action all week is what really confuses me.

Fanfilms in general have done a lot more infringement than that and not gotten C&D's. Just visit fanfilms.com to see examples.

I know but LFL have been very much cracking down on the usage of these particular insignia over the past year without permission. And this week being the anniversary week this surprises me.

And yet even more pics this morning. X-wing, younglings (in what looks like the Falcon*??) and Star Destroyer bridge. Plus the words "Stay on Target".

UPDATE: * That should be Daddy's Falcon. Well spotted.
