TV series set between ROTS and ANH

Cant wait !!!, sounds even worse, least between Episode 3 and Episode 4 sounded half interesting but setting it during the OT sounds like a bad idea....

Yeah, I really don't think Lucas's sticky fingerprints need to show up on the OT anymore. At least with the PT he's already screwing around with things that are already horribly screwed up.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I still don't see this TV series ever seeing the light of day, they are already changing the time frame for it? First it was the PT time between Episode III-IV, now it is during the OT? I think they will keep talking and talking about it just to keep SW in the news, and give us something to talk about, but I don't see it ever hitting the small screen. I think they are just throwing the OT timeframe out there to see if there is interest from the older fans, because ROTS is the only one we actually enjoyed in the theater, and see what we think, and frankly I echo what Vader said , "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! to the TV series."

Actually, I don't think this show is well known among the mainstream at this point.

In fact, if it weren't for the fact that I am an obsessive Star Wars fan who read every single internet report, I never would have heard of it.

I first heard about the TV shows (I heard about 2) at Celebration 3 last year, and I've been dreading them ever since. From what I've been led to believe, the first series is going to be a CG Animation Clone Wars series. To cover the events of the CW that the EU & the cartoons missed (Missed??!!??). Again, going by what I've heard, that show isn't supposed to debut until late 2007 early 2008, and depending on the success or failure of it, we might not see the live-action show.

Personally, I wish NEITHER of them would be seen. If I want to see a SW TV Project, I'd rather watch the Holiday Special (right, Adamwan?). Or, if I'm feeling a bit masochistic, I have the Ewok movies (shudder) or the Droids & Ewoks cartoons.

When I think about the way in which he said it though, it sounds as if it will still be set between ROTS and ANH, yet will be closer to ANH.

Yep. As reported by TF.N and AICN, Sansweet confirmed at the WonderCon yesterday that the upcoming live-action series will be set during the OT.

Excellent news IMO!

C'mon guys, let that show a chance!
Many OT fans have been confused and disturbed by the PT because of (not only that but...) the unfamiliar context. I mean, if you look carefully, the OT has a very Western/Sci-Fi context, which was cool for the general atmosphere and for very "cow-boy" characters such as Han Solo. The PT, on the other hand, has a very Medieval-Knights/Sci-Fi context, which has a really "cleaner" (in the wrong sense) and "colder" atmoshpere.
For this series, going back to the source could be very ecxiting, if it's well done of course... Maybe it could become the "real" come-back of Star Wars that many OT fans wanted, who knows?

I've just one thing to say about it: wait and see!

I assume the show, if it happens, will be told by the driods....
BEST CASE SCENERIO:
In the ROTS - ANH timeline we COULD get a decent show about Vaders conquest of the galaxy, although I dont see that actually happening. We couldnt get that lucky.

WORST CASE SCENERIO:
Ewok village style show

IVE GOT A FEELING:
I just got a feeling that the show is going to be made at which ever planet or place is cheapest to recreate.

You know, I find very cool the fact that they (Lucasfilm guys) will be forced to make Star Wars stories with a low budget (I mean a big TV budget, but many less than the movie ones). A "low " budget is often a good point for imagination and creativity, cause we can't count on many "extra-spectacular" scenes (which are numberous in the PT).
And for a TV series spectator, he has to want to know more at the end of an episode, and the best way is to create good characters (which are not many in the PT...).

So, pretty "low" budget (for a Star Wars) + good characters = maybe a great thing!

I agree with you on this..the last thing I wanna see is a CG effects bonanza...
and a low budget would drive home the more OT feel...

I say low like ..30 million dollars is "small" amount of money of course..

sign me up for one of those "low budget" hollywood lifestyles...hehe

It worked for Firefly!

Heh, I have to admit I was thinking the same thing. Of course, most of the worlds on Firefly have that western/outdoorsy feel, while the worlds on Star Wars have all kinds of different monoclimate worlds. Of course, they could just film the whole thing in front of a blue screen and have one of Lucas's kids fingerpaint backgrounds for them.

I'm sorry, that was mean, but I couldn't resist.

They'd have stiff competition if they're trying to take out the "Worst TV Show" trophy (think Crusade, Babylon V, Firefly).

I'm not going to damn them just yet, I'll wait for them to make it first - but you can bet that if it sucks I'd be happy to rain all kinds of shit on it. MSTing bad TV shows (Crusade again) is one of my favourite passtimes.

Hmm, I'm thinking Firefly, and I'm thinking one of the best TV shows in recent years... but I guess we're not on the same page.

Did I read that correctly? Did you just say that Firefly is one of the worst shows?

Forget that Firefly fluff! I can hardly believe he put Babylon 5 at the bottom!

I think they should lower the budget to 15 million instead of 30. that way, more creativity will abound..!
