TV Broadcast question

I seem to remember Sci-Fi use to play the original versions of the films a long time ago (perhaps even in Widescreen?). My question is whether or not they can play this in the future...

All I've seen SW broadcast on is TBS (SE) and Fox on occasion (i.e. before AOTC opened). I'd really like to see the original versions on Sci-Fi (Hell, I'd like to see anything SW on Sci-Fi).

The last thing Sci-Fi channel played concerning Star Wars, was the Fan Movie Awards.

It was hosted by Kevin Smith and they played a bunch of the fan movies that have been made, giving awards to the best of the bunch.

Yeah I caught that but in the end it felt conspicuously like a big commercial for Attack of The Clones...

Lucas has done everything he can to prevent any channel from ever airing the original versions again.

I think he's restricted any version from being played on tv so you have to buy the DVDs...sad sad sad...

here in the UK the O-OT used to be on every christmas for years on network tv on ITV. I remember in 1995 an ad on sky movies a channel on the Murdoc/Fox owned sky satelite network saying see the films in their original form for the last time. The next time they was on tv was in 1999 on sky movies but these were the SE's. in 2001 ITV showed the SE's for the first time on 3 saturday nights IV V then VI then they showed PM. They did the same thing twice in 2002 and once in 2003 thats the last time i saw the films in any form on tv. The scfi channel over here dont show them but repeats Back to the future and ET a lot along with the great Tremors tv series.

Sci-Fi sucks in the U.S. They rarely show good movies. The good ones are hardly ever on. I don't like the shows. But it use to be much better. If this channel represents Sci-Fi today, I guess I'm not much if a Sci-Fi fan...

Scifi channel over here is not too bad actually they show 60's and new twilight zone, quantum leap in order two a day on average, the first six star trek movies appear a fair bit too. On thursday they have an anime night they are dubs like but its better than nothing. Farscape is on a lot too and the tremors movies and series.

I disagree Sci-fi often show some good movies and unlike many backwards stations almost always in widescreen.

Sci-Fi's on OK channel. I flipped it on yesterday and caught the beginning of Temple of Doom (the poison you just drank....) in widescreen, of course. Nice to see quality movies being shown, in widescreen nonetheless. Now all they need is commercial free airing.

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

Yeah yesterday was a rare day that they showed the Indy Trilogy. Original versions too, not repaired DVD versions. I think they'd benefit from using the DVD versions though as they could broadcast them in high-def.

is the Sci Fi channel in the US the same one in Canada?
