Let's not all forget - TO BE THX certified it HAS to be installed by a THX certified installer AGAIN it goes beyond just having the THX logo

I understand you thinking that THX Ultra 2 is such a gold standard. Then why is the B&K AVR307 A/V Receiver, arguably one of the better high end receivers out there, not THX Ultra 2 certified? In fact there quite a few high end receivers that aren't THX certified.

Rikter - Any input? What does it actually take to be certified THX? Why isn't true top of the line stuff THX cerfified? (I'm talking the 20,000 bux stuff)

THX certification isn't required. It is simply a process that a company may put their product through to earn a particular distinction above other products. Some companies, like Marantz, are able to rely on their own brand name for this distinction, because they are known for putting out quality products.

Some audiophile companies have products so far and above the THX standards that it's not worth their time and money to submit their products, and make no mistake, it is very expensive and takes time. This is why companies like Yamaha only submit their top-end products, to make a distinction within their own line of products.

Just some info. I own the ORIGINAL THX demo disc, and it DOES have DTS on it. Seing the podrace in DTS it truly awesome.

On a second note, there are a LOT of bootleg THX demo discs outthere, and any containing Dolby Digital trailers is a boot. The original contains only the THX trailers.

If anyone needs info on the original disc, please dont hesitate to ask me

I'm still looking for a copy of Soundtrack! I keep hearing about this, but have never seen (heard?) it.

Still looking for this as well. Does anyone out there have the original disc? The spleen version is crap. Not at all what it says it is.
