some nice predictions of the future there. That's when the man still used his brain. Thanks for sharing, it's a very interesting article.
Well, I checked the subtitle file I made but unfortunately it isn't synced at all, so it's not a simple matter of adding a delay value or anything. :( You will need to start from scratch to making them work, a tedious process. But all the lines of dialogue are there at least.
We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Use Subtitle Workshop - if it's the same cut but different speed, you can set the time of first and last subtitle and then it moves all the other subs accordingly.

Sounds wonderful! I never did get this function to work properly when I used SubtitleCreator, will have to try that program. The problem with my file though is that I took the subs from the 2004 DVD and just inserted the "new" lines in the correct order, and deleted the lines in that cut. So it's not a matter of PAL vs NTSC, just a subtitle project in its infancy.

it might be some of what you are looking for
As best as I can tell, this covers all of them.
No, it doesn't. There are more alterations than what that page covers but it is a pretty extensive article.

Any updates?
Also, a painting of interest...

I know some of you have forgotten all about this, but I'm finally ready to share that 1970 Sunday newspaper magazine supplement about George and the movie. It's incredibly fragile, and too big for a scanner, so I decided the safest method was photographing it under natural lighting.
Can anyone recommend a less spammy free image host?

I use postimage.org and it seems great so far.
Thanks! I'll give it a shot. :)

Had to shrink these down a bit for upload. The originals are much bigger.
Posting one at a time, in case the site burps again. ;)

Help get The Original Trilogy preserved!
It was a lucky find on Ebay a couple years back. I wonder if George has a copy?
Lucas' and Coppola's predictions of future movie making technology weren't far off the mark, except maybe the inflatable soundstage thing. ;)
Between this, the tv spot, and the extended SEN scene, we have some nice extras now.

Just curious but what are the measurements of this paper? You said it was too big to scan—I have a relatively large scanner, and was thinking it would be great to make a digital archive copy of this.
Approximately 11 inches by 13 inches. A bit too big to scan in one piece, at least for me.
Due to it's age, I fear scanning it will fade it. I think it's a miracle it's survived at all. I have vintage SW clippings from the 80's (which I want to preserve next) that are a lot more yellowed.

Thanks for those scans, SilverWook. Great stuff!
"See-through car" - that is one ugly hippie car. :)

No, man, it's like cool!
I finally have an excellent capture of each of the three LDs. It's one tremendous (415GiB) 10-bit v210 (YUV422P10LE) file.
This took more time than I expected because of minor undocumented things, such as the fact that the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle sets its gain based on the first frame it receives. My solution to this is to turn off the Runco LJR-II's fluorescent display before turning the computer on to ensure that the first frame the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle receives is a completely black one.
The transfers were done completely flat with the pre-amp set to 0dB gain for Y and C. I could have calibrated it using the color bars on GGV1069, but I decided against this since what I really want is the closest digital approximation of the Runco LJR-II's s-video output. Plus, the aforementioned gain issue really screwed with my attempts to calibrate and it got too frustrating.
I'm currently working on temporal alignment and it's going well. The Runco LJR-II—believe it or not*—occasionally inserts a duplicate frame, but this is easy enough to detect and fix. This is where Avisynth's Subtract function really shines.
And, yes, I said Avisynth. I'm really happy with the colors as they are, so I felt comfortable dropping to 8-bit Huffyuv (YUV422P) for post.
(* I know it's the Runco LJR-II rather than the capture card because, if it were the capture card, the duplicate frame would be bit-for-bit identical, but it's not.)
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

The albino lizard shot.
Any shot of a video screen.
The white void when THX and SEN meet SRT. This was the scene where there was some video smearing around SRT's head when played on my CLD-D704.
All I can think of at the moment...

I wish I knew this film better. Can you give some rough time estimates for those shots?

I'll see what I can do. My house is a mess again as the home improvement horror continues, and I'm not sure where my captures are.
