Wondering if there were any making of articles in the film magazines of the time like American Cinematographer, most likely not, but would be nice to find out.

The only article in know of is in the george lucas interviews book.

I think someone here mentioned having the presskit many pages back.

Old magazines with THX articles circa '71 do pop up on Ebay. Cinefantastique being the one I see most often. Could have sworn there was an AC issue up several months ago as well.

The movie was Amercian Zoetrope's flagship production, so there was likely more mainstream coverage than if it was some weird little Italian Sci Fi flick.

THX also got a bit of retrospective coverage in the many Starlog clones that saw print in the wake of Star Wars.

I do just have a couple of pages scanned but it's the most relevant part of the book. I have been thinking, these two mistakes erri_wan pointed out in the Italian dubbing...

do we really want them corrected in the English subs? When I think about it, I actually want them preserved, as I'm not an Italian guy, I will only look at this version as a curiosity anyway and I think it would be nice to see all the dubbing errors preserved, so that you can really see what a shoddy treatment this film got in Italy. It's more understandable if you want these errors corrected for an Italian subtitle stream and when you're attached to this cut of the film.

So, did anyone ever make a solid preservation of THX on LD? I must admit I've never seen it and I would very much like to see the original unbutchered cut first.

Harmy, the Laserdisc captures went out a while back, and a preservation is being worked on.

I know it's moving slowly, sorry for that. I will get this done.

I am currently IVTC-ing the LD-captures, and I have sent MeBeJedi the problematic footage (a white speck stuck in the frame for about 13 minutes), hopefully he will be able to get rid of it.

It's fairly static, I actually thought that would make it harder? MeBeJedi are using Combustion, I think. If he doesn't succeed, maybe you would be able to help out with your magic skills.

The old LD transfer was the Angrysun edition (not bad but 4:3 interlaced), but this will render that obsolete.

SilverWook, do you have any idea how old your 16mm print is? Is it possible to track down which years these prints were released?
