I'm encoding the mkv now and that should be finishd by later today. If all goes well ANH should be appearing in newsgroups this weekend

Just to clarify: did you do any additional rotoscoping of the lightsabers/laser blasts for this release?  You made mention of it before, but I'm not quite sure if you went ahead with it.

because after actually (doy) reading this thread, I rather get your "THE STAR WARS SAGA" color corrected with added comentary version in mkv format.

The Mkv i am rendering now is my version with the colour correction and a few tweaks and has nothing to do with the Wookiegroomer editions at all. They are stright from the original high quality HD broadcasts. The mkv will be used for the AVCHD. I won't be releasing it as a straight mkv

I did a few tweaks to Luke Lighsaber to make it blue aboard the Falcon, and fixed a couple of shots during the duel where Obi-Wan's lightsaber turned purple, but apart from these and the colour correction, i decided against any other tweaks

no. I never use torrents because my ISP throttles torrents so the speed is unbearably slow. at least with newsgroups you can use your full connection speed

i've just done a test AVCHD and it looks great on my 42" 1080p TV. The encode came in a bit smaller than i had anticipated so i'm going to do a second encode and up the bitrate, although having checked the first one side by side with the master lossless avi there are no compression artefacts visible. it looks exactly the same. there is some very minor video noise in places but that is down to the colour correction and couldn't be avoided.

I'm working on the Main audio right now. so far the specs for EPIV are this:

1080p True 24fps Video
AC3 5.1 640kbps English audio, a new audio mix so no reversed rear channels
Directors commentaries
Alternate commentaries from the now defunked DVD-ROM website
Greedo doesn't shoot!!!!

Ah well. I guess thats what happens when i have no sleep working on 2 projects at once. lol

Would anyone be able to torrent this AVCHD version at all? If Negative1 is torrenting the HD-DVD version then it would be great if someone can cover the original AVCHD version for a torrent.

no it only has the hardcoded English subtitles for Greedo & Jabba parts

EPIV will be going up in the next few hours. here's a sample to tide you over. I haven't included the commentaries on the sample but you will be able to get an idea of the new sound mix

well you know when you get that feeling you wish you'd never started something? Well i have that now. I've just sat through the AVCHD and there are glitches on the video and audio that aren't there in the original masters. I'm not going to bother doing another encode so i'm just going to switch back to my first encode, even though it now doesn't fill up the whole disc. the quality is exactly the same. so i'm going to add an extra audio track which will be the untouched laserdisc SE 5.1. so it probably won't be until later today that i start posting

The sample looks and sounds great! Looking forward to the whole enchilada...

Well, it's too bad that happened, but honestly...this is still very cool! ;) Looks the same, and will have an extra audio track? Not too shabby!

ok a bit of an update. Things seem to be going ok now. I've added the laserdisc audio along with English & dutch  subs. Now the laserdisc audio is set as the main one and i have taken out the alternate audio mix, which i will explain why in a moment. The foreign subs i downloaded so i can't guarantee they are correct  and the timings may be slightly off because i had no way of checking them.

Ok the reason i put the laserdisc audio as the main one is that i have made a decision about which direction i am going with these AVCHDs to make them different to the ones already available. Well i have decided to make these the Theatrical versions and not the 2004 versions (apart from ANH because of removing Greedo shooting & a couple of other changes done in the 2004 transfer which i didn't replace.) So it makes sense that they will all have the laserdisc audio as the main because these (i think) were closer  to the original  theatrical audio, if not the actual theatrical mix. All apart from AOTC & ROTS because there were no laserdiscs of these. So that means that ESB will have the original Emperor returned, ROTJ will have Sebastian Shaw replacing Hayden and the Naboo shot will be removed, and TPM will also be the theatrical version with the laserdisc audio. Now i decided to take out the alternate mix because i won't be doing one for the others and i want to keep this set as consistent as possible. also the glitch seemed to be with the audio and not the video. Now the laserdisc audio hasn't got such a great surround sound as the 2004 mix

So i will update the first post with the new specs as soon as i can
