Many thanks for the artwork Killbot.....

Does anyone have this image in a higher res, or alternatively, has anyone bought the poster?

I think that's a fan-made (that is, Photoshopped) poster.  I doubt it exists in poster form, though it may exist in higher res than that.

Oh, and you don't need to make 5 posts in a row.  There's an "edit" button for a reason.

See?  I just used it.

I asked because I know it exists and that it was up for sale (which was why I stated that I was looking for someone who bought one)

And granted, there may have been one or two of my posts that could have been combined (the first ones were made while I was still quite new to the forum experience)......but when I'm trying to make sure that everyone reads my new posts, especially when I'm looking for something I'll make a new post everytime I have something new to say. (if you'll look at the dates you'll notice that many of those posts are made days apart)

I agree that this is a fair reason to repost instead of editing.  Edits often get missed if they aren't done right away.

Hi everyone,

I have a few basic questions regarding dvd covers....

Is there a particular type of paper that you should use when printing a cover so that the cover's texture closely resembles what you would get with a standard dvd purchased in the store?

If I were to use covers that were posted in this forum....do you have to resize them so that they cover the dvd case properly?  If so, what are the correct size dimensions and how do you change the image size?

Hi uyrnihssi.

I found an happy mediem over a long peroid of time. I now use 80gsm Everyday HP photo paper at £10 for 100 sheets, but had to mess around with my printer settings to get a true to screen image (I used 240gsm photo paper in the past and whilst the results were stunning, the cost was crazy). I get retail quality standard covers with my settings/paper/ContinuousInkSystem (its awesome). I use nero cover designer to rescale my covers to the right size.

i believe Matt Bush (sp?) created that poster (i believe he used a combination of photoshop and "analog" painting)

EDIT: My bad, it was done by Pete Vilmur: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1zK1ef-LOQ

Actually you had it right the first time, heh, Busch even signed it at the bottom! I believe Vilmur helped with the overall design in conjunction with Busch from beginning to the final Lucasfilm-approved product (which according to the video that follows the one above, should be available as a full size poster).

Matt Busch is a great artist, just wish he would finish his You Can Draw Star Wars series. I was getting so far.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

The teaser poster for Phantom Menace is still one of my favorite posters. I used to stare at it and dream about all of the possibilities the prequels could have. Sure, they didn't live up to them, but I can still recall those emotions looking at the poster.

A while back, I came up with this idea for a series of teaser posters for Revisited:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a115/doubleofive/posters/Saga-Teaser-rough.png
Each movie is themed along with its numerical counterpart. First, they dream of the future, then they face down charging enemies, then face their father-figures (with Vader NEVER having the high ground), all while having their back turned. The tag lines are pretty nifty, as Adywan can call TPM, AotC, & RotS whatever he wants and still use the tag lines.

I wish i had the skills to complete them, but maybe someone else can.

Those could be VERY cool.  Keep searching - maybe it's just a matter of finding the right pictures to fill out the empty spaces.  Also, a lot of the space you do have to fill out is mostly just terrain that can be copy/pasted/altered from what you do have to work with.  Experiment a little.

Since i've seen ANH:R i've been pretty sure that's the best version of the film there is. I've been thinking about a poster(dvd cover) of some sort for TESB:R and i came up with this one a while ago. Inspired by the 1997 edition (one of my favourite SW posters) i have made some changes...replaced Vader's tie advanced with a lamda class shuttle as it is now used in the film even by captain Needa. Then changed the emperor's look to match the holo image and have also made some saturation adjustments to make the poster look a bit less colorfull.

I can understand that you want to tone down the SE poster coloring but it looks almost black and white.  Punch it back up a little.

Very slick but...

... I agree, it needs more color, and perhaps replace the original blue backdrop color with red so that it's different.

Yep. Like I said in the other thread, needs a bit more color. The shuttle looks great now, though.

ok, added a bit more color :) But I think that replacing the blue backdrop with red would be a bit too ROTS :) And thanx, Captain Antilles for the shuttle support ;) It's actually a bit modified revell easy kit model shot in front of a green screen with some added filterwork.

Much better!  Bottom half still feels like it should be more in the blue range, less green tint, but otherwise a good "tune down" from the SE coloring.
