ROTJ definitely sounds better, but it's a shame that the original recording quality is so much worse overall than the other two.

 Btw, I tried something... I may let you know in a couple of days it is quite an improvement.

Well, I think is, even for myself. I have now a version of the CD 2 with quite almost the same new powerful and clear sound on tracks 3, 5 to 14, 17 to the end. Track 4 is good, track 1, 2 & 16 are always hissy, and track 15 will always be a flat shit. All have been widened a bit again with only EQ, as usual. I'll keep in touch.

I've only listened to Star Wars and the LPs all the way through, but in those three I definitely noticed a greater depth than I did from the SE CDs. A lot of instrumentation I could barely notice in the recent releases popped out, and it felt almost like I was listening to a different piece of music. I didn't even care about the crackling on the LP transfers because I was so drawn in by the music.

I recently listened to my Star Wars LPs a bit. That was fun, though the system they were on--my grandmother's decades old stereo--was definitely not equipped to play sound of that magnitude. I saw an old Marantz turntable with RCA jacks later in the day at Salvation Army (along with a matching receiver), but there's no way I'd pay $50 for it.

Sounds good, ABC. :) Thanks for the news.

 Thanks to you. Your comments helped to check this out.

If it's as better as I think, and I'm about to think it is, I will try to send it to every people who requested the links (Ouch, big work)... Unless I share only with those who left a feedback or bumped the thread, that would be fair !

By the way Ripplin, can't wait to read your full review ! Hehe !

A funny thing with my Hi-fi material is that the LPs transfers are better with headphones, while I think  the remasters are better on speakers. Off course all depend on your own material. :)

Edited post:  I' ve listen it three times and I have no more doubts that what I just made is now the ultimate ROTJ version feasible with that score. Consider what you had from me as a pre-remaster. However I will wait a couple of days to announce it definitively with bold letters and a trumpet blow. Lol !

Kewl! I still haven't had time to listen to your ROTJ set, but I thoroughly loved the other four soundtracks (counting the vinyl transfers). Can't wait to hear the definitive remastering (for me, anyway) of ROTJ! :)

I downloaded it last week and when I heard the quality of this lost track (wich is only some notes repeted X times for one minutes besides), I threw it away.

If they were in good condition, that sounds like a bargain.

I agree, but I still couldn't really afford to buy it, especially as I don't have much vinyl and have two good receivers anyway. If it's still around for a while and they lower the price, I might get it.

RETURN OF THE JEDI - FINAL VERSION

I did so much on the first version that there were a lot of things remaining I didn't dare to do or didn't consider in detail. These two last days, like a painter, I took my finest brushes and placed the deepest shadows and the final highlights. Indeed there was still a little place for clarity here and there, quite some space to carve between the most percussive frequencies (basses-mediums precisely) and the extreme low freqs to finish the un-muffling work: some hidden instruments we just guessed behind on most tracks have now a more obvious presence by revealing this space.

All this seems to have given a better dynamic to the whole set and reveals more again this (finally) very fine William's score. I'm beginning to like this one a lot !

It would be too difficult to say or remember all that I've done, but here's a little idea to what those of you who listened to the first version may notice.

... And yes it'll be available very soon.

DISC 1

1. 20TH CENTURY FOX FANFARE  0:22
2. MAIN TITLE / APPROACHING THE DEATHSTAR  5:22   A blasting "PERFECT"
3.
TATOOINE RENDEZ-VOUS  2:50   Just a bit better. About the best as may be this corrupted track
4. JABBA'S PALACE ENTRANCE  1:10   Untouched (I did all I could the first time)
5. JABBA'S BAROQUE RECITAL  3:03   A bit more relief, I'd say perfect.
6. THE DROIDS ARE CAPTURED  1:17   Softer & clearer, kind of perfect... Beautiful !
7. LAPTI NEK  2:50   And now they have the power !
8. BOUNTY FOR A WOOKIE  2:50   ... As track 6
9. HAN SOLO RETURNS 4:01   Even better: Perfect ! (I wrote "awesome" on my notes)
10. LUKE CONFRONTS JABBA  3:14   Now clearer and close to tracks 6 & 8. A few hiss remains though.
11. DEN OF THE RANCOR  3:42   Clearer, softer. It seems the full orchestra is now revealed. AWESOME !
12.  SARLACC SENTENCE 1:46   Untouched... Too dangerous !
13. THE PIT OF CARKOON  0:56   Just a tiny bit more clear.
14. SAIL BARGE ASSAULT  5:02    Have been calmed down as needed. Otherwise, a tiny correction for a great difference !

15. THE EMPEROR ARRIVES  2:07   Have been calmed down too. Now softer & bright... Perfect.
16. THE DEATH OF YODA  6:06   Back to life !... A bit. (a bunch of hidden instruments revealed).
17. OBI-WAN'S REVEALATIONS  2:51   Same idea (with a little hiss though).
18. ALLIANCE ASSEMBLY  2:10   Very very good, considering what it was at the origin.
19. SHUTTLE TYDIRIUM APPROCHES ENDOR  4:12   Now subtle and bright: a Perfect.
20. SPEEDER BIKE CHASE  1:21   Still a few better. Almost perfect ?
21-22. LAND OF THE EWOKS  8:16   21: As good as it can be (I think). 22: Clearer, a bit.
23. THE LEVITATION  1:27   Still bad. A bit clearer though.
24. THREEPIO'S BEDTIME STORY  1:12   Closer to what it should sound. Nice !

25. EWOK FEAST    ...Not  Good for the neighbours at night... Perfect !

26. LUKE AND LEIA  4:47   Totally refreshed. Very good.

DISC 2

1. BROTHER AND SISTER  3:08   Clearer, really better. Still one of the most difficult tracks.
2. FATHER AND SON  3:41   Clearer, really better, despite the hiss.

3. FLEET ENTERS HYPERSPACE 1:41   Very good. Still better.
4. HEROIC EWOK  2:00   Clearer. Best as it can be.
5. EMPEROR'S THRONE ROOM  3:26   Clear. Kind of awesome !
6. INTO THE TRAP  2:30   Still clearer. I’d say “Perfect” !
7. FOREST AMBUSH 2:00   A little clearer, a little deeper. Nice for such a hard track.
8. SCOUT WALKER SCRAMBLE / THE PRIME WEAPON FIRES 7:20   Perfect (a bit strong though…?)
9. THE LIGHTSABER  1:43   Kind of perfect
10. THE EWOK BATTLE  2:50  THE PERFECTION !!! (No more harsh trumpets, Vaderios :) )
11. LEIA IS WOUNDED / THE DUEL BEGINS  2:56   Smells perfection.
12. OVERTAKING THE BUNKER  0:57   Very very good
13. THE DARK SIDE BECKONS  3:37   I let you discover...
J
14. THE EMPEROR'S DEATH  2:44   Close to perfect. More clear again.
15. SUPERSTRUCTURE CHASE  1:57  Hahaaa !!! Beuaaarrghh. A better shit… remains one. But still better though.
16. DARTH VADER'S DEATH  2:32   Considering the poor quality of the track: became good.
17. THE MAIN REACTOR  1:36   Clearer. Best as it can be.
18. LEIA'S NEWS  2:21   Idem. Now very good it seems.
19. LIGHT OF THE FORCE 1:11   Same way
20. EWOK CELEBRATION  1:56   Now as it should be…
21. END TITLE  6:02   Clearer, kind of perfect !

Good question... ! :)

The answer is: not if you already posted on the thread (There's only 4 pages, so... "I will deal with them myself" ;) ). I want every one to have this finished work in hands.

A lot of things have been called back indeed. But it's a mess that the violins (a lot where still hidding) have a so low volume, they seem to be far. In the other hand they have a beautiful sound and it's quite amazing to hear them appear where there was nothing before but a far melted echo. A lot of other strange instruments are hearable, besides, and quite clearly. All this give a strange feeling of large space. :) It really makes the score richer and... Complete. THAT is a complete score ! Lol !!!

Just a couple of tiny retakes and they're yours :)

Sounds great ABC!

btw: while adding tags to the flac files I noticed a few errors on the covers, any chance you can fix these as well some time? :-)

ANH:
the colour issue on the front cover I mentioned before
track 116: "Burning Homstead" -> homestead
track 120: "Millenium Falcon" -> millennium
"Compilded and remastered" -> "compiled"

ESB:
track 213: "loosing a hand" -> losing
"Compilded and remastered" -> "compiled"

ROTJ:
track 202:"Father an Son" -> "and"
"National Philarmonic Orchestra" -> "Philharmonic"
"Compilded and remastered" -> "compiled"

They're really nice covers, I feel like it'd be a shame to print them with these errors :-)
