Superman Movie — Page 20

Does anybody know if there is a dialog-free version of "Can you read my mind?" The DVD's music-only track and, to my knowledge, the soundtrack had the voiceover present.

P.S. Greencapt, I'm far more partial to "Jimmy Olsen's Blues" by The Spin Doctors.

I am too, Bossk, but part of that is that I am a Superman fan and desperately want this movie to be good, even if I'm afraid that it won't be. If for nothing else, than it has been quite a bit of time between Superman IV and Superman Returns, and I'm afraid that if Superman Returns bombs, then it will be another 20 years or longer until we get another Superman movie.

which is why they should have gone the batman begins route and started from scratch. only thing i still really dont like in batman begins is the batmobile

Isn't it an extra on the semi-rare two-disc Superman Soundtrack? I'll check and see if it has it when I get home.

I have that issue. It was low-level hypnotism thanks to his glasses or something like that.

LOL- that reminded me of Megaton Man, a very funny 80s parody of superhero comics. The main character was, like Clark, a reporter but was so obviously Megaton Man thaat everyone in the story knew it- but he still believed it was a perfect disguise.

OK, I watched the clip and have to ask... seriously as I know many of you are about my age (35)- if this clip did NOT feature the John Williams 'Superman' theme would it be cool? If you're anything like me you could just listen to that theme with Martha Stewart or some crap on in front of you and *still* be moved. Its a theme, like Williams' OT Star Wars themes, that creates a nostalgic and emotional response.

Just curious, not picking on anyone- we like what we like.

You've got me salivating now, Sess. Lemme know what you find. I didn't even realize such a soundtrack existed. Is it more complete than the DVD? If so, I'll track it down, as it's gotta be better fidelity than the AC3 file from the DVD.

Yep, it was on there, looks like Greencapt uploaded the one I was thinking about already, though.

Its from the Warner Archives soundtrack. I cannnot believe that it so so hard to find anywhere under 40 bucks, I was lucky that some guy didn't know what he had on Amazon.co.uk and I scored it(literally!) for under 15 bucks including shipping from the UK.

If you need any other tracks from the CD, just ask and I'll see what I can do.

I could also help you out ADM, just PM me if you like. And in case you have me 'ignored', then, er... Sessler, please tell ADM what I just wrote.

You're absolutely right. I could be watching Bushie's State of the Union address and, so long as the Superman theme was playing in the background, I would never turn it off.

There's something about the new movie I don't quite understand... apparently, the new Superman, while not necessarily going back to the beginning, is supposed to, according to one source, "pick up after the original two movies." Did this guy screw up and forget that there were four original movies or is this one negating their existence entirely? No Richard Pryor?

Sorry ... missed your post on the previous page. Thanks for posting it, Greencapt.

What's the UPC on the disc and I'll just look it up and buy it.

Is it missing any tracks or cues from the actual film? Or is it a truly complete soundtrack?

Edit: Is it this one?

Really? So III and IV never happened or they just haven't gotten around to them?

***POTENTIAL SPOILER***

This six-year absence of Supes should be interesting in terms of its explanation. It looks like Lois has a kid now according to some studio stills.

Wow, back when I was searching for it a few months back you had to pay top dollar for it (I even saw it go for over 70 bucks on ebay! Yikes!).

It gets worse and worse my friend... that's why I would have voted for a 'Batman Begins'-ish reboot instead of a quasi-maybe-sorta-sequel. Not do a new origin story mind you, as I think most people basically know the origin... just a much more respectful to 20 years of comics history adventurey kind of film.

i was never really a big fan of that can you read my mind voice over. would have been cool if superman was like, 'yeah, i can and your anoying' then let her go.

totally agree with the batman begins-ish reboot (as i said on the previous page and prob once before)

I totally agree.

Then again, I was never a fan of her as Lois either. I think it was on this board where someone said that the only reason that Margot Kidder was cast as Lois Lane was that all of the male roles were already taken.

I got my sealed THX Faces ANH LD from a guy at Half.com for 9 bucks many years ago. Go figure.

I got mine for thirty bucks in a lot that came with two Star Trek LDs, the only downside is that I still don't have a Laserdisc player to play them on.

3 altogether, or were there more. Either way, you got yours for at least the same price as mine, if not less.

The next Superman film (if there will ever be one) should be a near-direct translation of "Superman for All Seasons" or "Birthright" with Loeb or Waid at the helm respectively (co-directing, a la Sin City).

30 bucks for the trilogy AND the two Star Trek LDs.

Coincidentally, that purchase was my first purchase on eBay and the last time I actually had money.

Well, I for one am looking forward to Superman Returns. I'm glad they haven't gone back and done another bloody origin story. It's actually quite a clever idea making a sequel to a film that's over 20 years old. Will make all the new fans go out and buy the originals just to see "what happened" kind of thing.

Also I'm glad they changed the outfit.
I mean come on, have you watched the old films recently. His outfit is so bright man...day glo superman...and just look at the size of his pants..they are HUGE!!!
Most people are ok with the changing of...BATMAN...SPIDER-MAN...X-MEN...Just about everyother super hero film made, so why not Superman??

And to have John Williams' theme is imo the best thing they could have done. It just wouldn't be Superman without that theme.
From the reviews I've read so far, it has gotten a thumbs up, so I can't wait!

Oh and one more thing. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but there might just be a teaser for Spider-Man 3 attached to SR. Now there's two reasons to go and watch this movie
