Suggestions for the New Forum — Page 2

I would also like to add a request to reinstate the block DS2 logo and the rather adorable picture of the kids pretending to be Vader and Luke on the opening page. It was a welcoming image and representative of all we stand or sit or lie down for.

After you create an issue, there’s a menu on the right called “Labels”. You should see all the available tags when you click that.

The one that says “none yet” under “Labels?” I can’t click on it.

I’ve just logged back in after a while away and obviously something has changed. I just want to say the new layout is awful. It looks like it’s been designed for children. In my account settings I’ve switched it back to the OT old skool setting but it make no difference.

What’s going on, is it going to stay like this? Navigation is a chore, it was fine before.

Oh for fuck’s sake. Read the thread before you post. I’m trying to use this for a specific purpose, and you guys are TRYING to get it locked again.

Please edit out your post before it’s too late.

Frink, I’m not going to lock it. I’m just going to start deleting posts from members who’ve proved they’re incapable of reading site-wide announcements, let alone a few posts in a topic before replying.

I’m starting a drinking game for every post from someone who didn’t see the damn memos. Who’s with me? 😉

Based on the avatar I see for you, I think I’m already playing.

I would play but unfortunately there’s no booze in the house. 😦
Pity, as we’d get smashed pretty fast this way I reckon.

I can’t seem to find a “forum search function” on here…

Perhaps the biggest problems should be addressed FIRST, then, no?

The biggest problem is to have the forum actually online, which was often not the case with the old hosting service, the second biggest problem is to restore the functionalities like subscriptions, bookmarks and drafts, the third biggest problem is how things look like. What use is the most beautiful forum if it’s unavailable every now and then?

Stop making sense. It confuses people.

I don’t know how much programming (if any) is built into the software. Properly coded, a webpage will look 99% identical across the popular browsers that people daily use. (I, myself, am testing the top ones to find the greatest in all the galaxy.) Just thought you’d like to see, even at this early stage, how OriginalTrilogy.com looks in a couple of these (on a Windows Vista system):

Firefox (v.37)
Opera (v.12)

The old and long gone forum search facility never really worked well but I was always able to find something using browser search engines.
This doesn’t seem to be a doable with image searches since the results seem to link to the asset allocation on the old location.
It might be something that settles over time but is this current set up more friendly to an idea like a forum search engine?

I’m really not getting my little head around markdown.
I had a couple of images up and running and looking fine only to have them pop off after a few days (presumably de-cached).
I’m grateful for the site. I’m not going to stop using it or any such nonsense I’m not trying to be rude or mean-spirited but I loved the look and feel of posting images on the old style. I loved being able to set the image dimensions easily and I can’t do my fake quotes in the old style either so even I don’t get my old jokes anymore 😄
Quite a few previously posted images haven’t made the transition I notice despite still being actively hosted and we have some rather large signature images now the prior image sizing is gone boing.
How can I write sigh in asterisks without going bold and italic? 😄

Thank you for the explanation. So, how things look WILL eventually be addressed?

To answer your question, yes, they will.

To answer your insult, I think you should be talking to yourself. Jay put a lot of his free time (he doesn’t have to keep this forum going, you know) into making a functional website that could replace the previous semi-functional one, and he didn’t have the time to perfect it before it went live. Way too many people seem to be able to nothing but complain, as if they were paying Jay for a service he was failing to provide.

Well, apart from wanting my name to be hanshotfirst1138 like it is everywhere else (never quite sure how I got my name here, to be honest), and to be able to track a person by clicking on their posts and have search function that works. But based on the available evidence, I’m wondering if it’s impossible to accommodate while keeping old posts because of software upgrades.

I’ll be damned, click on my name takes me to my posts! It’s working! Now can I delete an old post?
