The Stunt Men's Association lost a battle to have a Stunt Man's category added to the Oscars.

What are your thoughts on this?

Personally I think they deserve SOMETHING.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

I agree wholeheartedly. To be honest, I wasn't aware that they weren't recognized. Is this the first time they've ever requested this? You'd think it would have come up at some point in time before now.

I think such category better fits MTV movie awards, not the Oscars. Maybe a pre-dated award, like those technical awards...

They've been fighting for an award category for some years now. They get shot down each time.

I think they deserve an Oscar, no question. But I also agree with Ric that they should be given out at a separate ceremony. One in which they broadcast highlights of during the real Oscar ceremony. Much like the tech awards. Good call, Ric.

Another in a long line of self-serving awards shows...expect nothing less from Hollywood. The stuntmen probably do deserve some recognition. With few exceptions, it's not the actors putting their a##es on the line, it's the stunt people.

THE STAUNT MEN AND STUNT WOMEN DESERVE AN ACADEMY AWARD CATEGORY FOR SURE. MY OLD BASS PLAYER IN THE LAST BAND THAT I WAS IN WAS THE ASSISTANT TO MEL GIBSON'S STUNT DOUBLE. WILL HAD TO LEAVE THE BAND, BECAUSE HE AND THE STUNT MAN GOT A CONTRACT. I THINK THAT IT WAS FOR LEATHAL WEAPON 4.
