Stranger Things: The Film Experience (WIP) (Don’t ask for rough cuts)

Hello! I am working on a fan edit that cuts season one of Stranger Things season one into a two parter in the veins of Kill Bill, allowing for the show to be viewed uncut as a film but with it split into two for more freedom.
I kept going back and forth on this one and I apologize again for constantly changing it but I’ve come to realize that I was losing what made this feel more unique to me and so I’m going back to what I made this thread for.
When it ends and begins:
The first volume will end with Hopper being captured. The Lonnie and Joyce talk is not in volume one and instead is part of the opening for volume two which overall is just the entire ending of volume one just with the said scene.

And of course small edits to make certain transitions flow better.

Update for volume two (v1), I’m gonna cut out the Will slug scene and see how it plays out. For two reasons why I’m doing this-
A, I don’t really have any desire to do the other seasons and I want this to feel like it’s own thing, so ending with Hopper leaving the eggos may make it feel less cliffhanger and more ambiguous.
B, to make the transition to the credits easier so I don’t have to include the main Stranger Things title and have to use (a rather sloppy as of now) fade out with the audio.

This interesting in that while there is already a Starnger Things TV to movie edit series, that one takes the opposite approach of cutting things until it fits in a movie runtime, while you opted to just make more movies. Are you only doing Season 1?

Terribly sorry for the late reply but I am planning on just doing season one. Tbh while I understand wanting to trim season one into a single movie, I speak from experience that the season is paced in a way that removing something would be like removing a puzzle piece.

Update: So something I’ve decided to do was re-include the Byers epilogue but cut out the slug scene and rearrange it so it comes before the new Hopper ending.

Update: Still need to work on it more and a big change im thinking about is just making it one big 6 hour film with two intermissions and if I finish it, release it in two or three files.

Update: After thinking about it, I think I want to give editing the show down to a more film length another shot. If it doesn’t work I go the 6 hour route. The goal for this tho isn’t to cut it down to two hours like the other edits I’ve seen but to cut it down to four hours, which to me is still a relatively more film like length. And this time the intermission will be just one in the middle, probably after chapter four.

At that point it’s just three movies.

At the moment I’m putting all my attention to the four hour long edit for the season. In which I’ve so far by taking notes and going through the season I’ve managed to cut down from 6 hours and 17 minutes (excluding the credits and theme post episode one), to 5 hours and 59 minutes.

Sorry for the constant edits I’m still somewhat new to writing on the site lol

Ok so after going through the entire first season and taking notes, the running time for the edit so far is sadly not the four hours I set out to make, but instead around 5 hours and 22 minutes when compared to the around 6 hours and 17 minutes uncut. But I think I’ll continue on with the edit even if it ends up clocking in at five hours instead of four.

I apologize again for constantly going back and forth on this but this will be the last time I change direction. I updated the main info above to as to why I changed my mind but I’m going back to having this edit be taking season one and editing it as a two part film. Season two which I’ve decided to be the only other season I give this treatment will be an exception to this.
