The trailer has finally dropped.

It doesn't look awful, and I like the monster designs. I'd be more interested in this than any of the other animated films out right now.

The really scary part is at 1:22. ;)

Huh, that actually looked like it might be great. Genuine LOL on the cricket gag, less of a LOL on the cliche-animated-movie-comedy-blackguy-sidekick elf character. Alan Cumming as the baddie, winner!

At a press conference for the film Friday afternoon, Business Insider asked Lucas why he would turn down working on more "Star Wars" movies to focus on an animated feature about fairies.

Lucas shared that the movie is really about his three daughters, Amanda, Katie, and newborn Everest, whereas "Star Wars" was about his sons.

He also explained that when he began working on the film, he hadn't sold his company Lucasfilm yet to Disney. After purchasing the company from Lucas in Oct. 2012 for $4 billion, Disney put up the rest of the money to finish Lucas's passion project while Disney took over the reigns on "Star Wars."

So George partially traded Star Wars to help fund this film. Okay...

So, I decided to take one for the team and go see this tonight...

...And much to my surprise, I liked it! It took a while for the plot to get rolling, but once it did, I was laughing. There was one character who stole every scene they were in. I'm having difficulty accepting that Lucas came up with a comedy relief character that's actually funny, and cute.

Once you get used to the Moulin Rouge! gimmick of popular songs being used, it actually works.

The animation was intricate in it's detail. Nothing like Pixar or Dreamworks style at all. Several in your face style shots are a dead give away this was probably meant to be shown in 3D, and would have rocked. A pity Disney absolutely had no faith in this at all.

George, you really surprised me!
