EVERY lightsaber effect sucks since 1977

Hello there folks! :-)

I´ve finally managed to download the original unharmed version of classic 1977 Star Wars film and among the other things I´ve noticed, that the lightsaber effects there have very very realistic glowing effect. So:

1. I´d like to know, if anyone has an idea about the way it has been done in this version (the 2004 one is totaly f*cked up).

2. Who´s with me, that any other LS effect in every SW movie (including ESB and RotJ originals), game, comic book, promotion picture etc. kinda if not totally (like in prequels) sucks?

3. You can compare them here in this page below (I don´t know, how to upload images, sorry), or you can watch the original SW film again if you have it.

What's wrong with the lightsabers in the prequels? And the '97 versions were fine, in my opinion.

1997 version use the same effect as ´77 one, only 2004 is changed to worse.

Prequels effects are very CGI, unrealistically stable, childish, with uninteresting colors (look at that nice blue in ´77 version, or Vader´s strong red combine with little bit of yellow), terrible motion blur effect and unrealistic glow.

Also the combat style actually sucks too, because it looks like the fighters are trying to hit the blade instead to hit the opponent. OT and especially ANH duel feels more like fight with weightless energy emitting device (you wouldn´t be able to do all those LS spinning moves like in the prequels).

Except for the change of Luke's lightsaber from cyan in SW to sky blue in TESB and the general lack of colour variety in the PT sabers I have no problem overall with how the sabers were done in the movies.

I do think the lightsabers in the post-AOTC comics look like shit, though (they share the PT's problem with lack of colour variety).

The terrible look of the lightsabres since 2004 is only a small part of a much bigger problem - the terrible colours of the movies, since they are obviously being "corrected" by color-blind people for every new release
