No more off topic derailment, or this thread gets locked until mverta returns.

Agreed, I’m not going to respond directly to it, jokingly or otherwise… besides responding that I’m not going to respond… this being that response about not responding…

Speaking of mverta (shocking, I know), does anyone know what he is up to in addition to Legacy? Is he on an actual work project that’s keeping him from talking here, or have there been no updates purely because he shouldn’t talk about it right now?

He did the music for Independents’ Day. Oh, and some VFX for it. WAIT, he’s also IN it! Now I have to watch it.

Other than that, he could be doing anything.

Sometimes I try to ignore the kinds of things that make up his filmography… Other times, I differently hope that this Legacy project actually gets accepted or gets him to be part of a real restoration, so he can have a crowning jewel in his career, or a launching point into higher profile projects…

Oh dear. This is our messiah? IMDB score of 1.7! You pretty much have to be trying to get such a low score. That means every person who has rated the movie has given it a 1, with a few people attached to the project giving it a 10.

Edit: A few quotes

  • CGI that looks as bad as the acting
  • special effects…I can’t even call them special effects…just no
  • Poor CGI. TERRIBLE acting
  • This is easily the worst movie I have every watched (and that is even putting it lightly)

Notice how those quotes don’t mention the music, which is what Mike was did on the film?

Ep. 7: Hal9000 | Ep. 7: TBD

None of these things translate to film restoration. Who cares what he does to make money? Most of the people here don’t have formal training at all, which he does.

Guys, you are trashing Mike’s work on his own thread.

So it has come full circle to page 1? This thread was born with people shit-talking him.

I’m not sure I am shit-talking him.
This thing is reportedly so bad, its getting some serious internet buzz.
I’m a little bit in awe.

Even in catastrophically bad motion pictures there are oodles of very talented people doing outstanding work.

Looking to Independence Day to judge Legacy is not worth our time. The Vimeo videos tell me all I need to know to want more.

If Mike worked on Independence Day my opinion of him would be much lower.

Guys it’s not like he wrote the damn movie. Sometimes when you work as a creative, you end up doing some projects that aren’t exactly Oscar worthy. The guy needs to make money somehow.

Honestly the opposite of how I was hoping this would go. I try to ignore the track record of his day job and focus on Legacy, which is work in a league of its own.

Being in a forum birthed from a love of Star Wars, this is the best place to bring that up, since no one thought Star Wars could amount to anything of worth before it was done. You can contribute the most amazing, professional work to a project, but you never know how the eventual product containing your efforts will be received… except for the fact it was done by Asylum, of course…

Perhaps since this thread is about Legacy, we should move all this other shit to off topic so I stop having to click here and read it.
