I will have lots of fun with it becuase Ill be able to watch the movies that DE and Adywan have improved in the comfort of my home. And by your logic everyone here not engaged in a fan edit or preservation is a leech.

... I assume you won't be attending any screenings of the Legacy Edition, then?

You really captuered the point of that message....

On the east coast? Im not holdind my breath

Yes, on the east coast. You'd know that was possible if you'd bothered to read the threads on the forum, instead of reactionarily posting every time you get a spark across your synapses.

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

You mean your forum where you talk about a private screening in LA, then go on to contemplate screening in other cities but never making it clear weather you will or not.

Dude, why are you being so rude? You make a lot of assumptions, then jump to conclusions, then make rather distasteful comments out of the blue. Lighten up, we're all Star Wars fans here.

Wheres a lot of assumptions? And what conclusions did I make, I saaid he had an idea to screen the movie in other cities, never said he wouldnt.

Its frustration and if I expel it in ways that aren’t that good, then ok I don’t

I havent personally attacked him and Ill still say hes a wizard and what he does is phenomenal but it still doesnt change the fact no matter how you view this its still frustrating for a fan whose chances of seeing it are slim.

You cant expect to tote around "The Best" restoration of this movie in essence saying its one of the best versions created and then say oh but you wont be able to see it, without people getting a little put off by that. Its almost like GL who for years said, no the original versions dont exist anymore (more like a little kid NO YOU CANT HAVE THEM). People got mad at him wrote him letters, created petitions (this forum) and now Im getting ridiculed for basically the same thing most did on here. Yeah its a different situation as he does not own the movies, its just a trying situation and I couldn’t keep my composure about it any longer. If I am to be written off as some crazy kid cause I got up in arms about not being able to see this, then so be it. But don’t act like the majority here didn’t act the same way and still to this day get a bit kooky about not being able to see the version and or the best quality of the movie they would like.

You are right I was out of line how I conducted myself towards Mike

We don't "know" anything. That's the assumption you make. You make absolute statements as though you know things for sure, which you don't. Paraphrasing Steve Sansweet, "Never say 'never' when it comes to the Star Wars trilogy.". That is a wise policy.

GhostAlpha26: Of course we're bummed we more than likely won't see it, but we don't get all antsy about it and do a virtual storm out of the room about it.

Reading about the restoration, seeing what can be done by someone who is prepared to spend the time on it, and beeing shown examples of the results is all fascinating.

I for one am very sad to not see this version, but legally, he can't provide it. He works in the industry. That's the big difference between him and most others doing restorations. For the rest of those doing it, no-one really cares, it doesn't affect anyone really, it doesn't cross over into their 'other' working life. He does work in this exact field every day, and if he was to break the law by distributing an illegal copy of one of the most famous films of all time. Well... it would probably hurt his career a bit.

I'm thankful to be able to see into the process, see the comparison clip, see the difference a little bit of tweaking can do on the recent DVD release (which makes me want to have lots of free time to play with my copy in a video editor)... it's just completely non-constructive to come out and bitch about how things are.

If you are done with it all, if you can't take the tantilising snippets of goodness that come from the project, then by all means stop reading the threads, it's just very childish to tell everyone in such a rude manner that you're doing so.

It is because I understand the frustration, and truly wish I could distribute Legacy, that I've been thinking of holding private screenings for fans in the first place. It's really the best I can do...

Tell that to the people who have completely given up on star wars in recent years over many things.

I explained my point and agreed I was out of line and tried to amend it. However if people want to continue to criticize me for how I acted when they are on the very site that begun a huge outcry and division among fans for basically the same thing I am doing you may want to look up the word hypocrite. Otherwise I tried to move on amicably and make my peace with this. Theres really no more that needs to be said about the subject.

GhostAlpha26: It's no big deal. All of us can relate to the frustration caused by Lucas not releasing a new high quality transfer (yet) of the unaltered Star Wars trilogy on DVD. None of us like it one bit, which is why we're here on this site talking about this in the first place. But one way or another we will get one, it's just a matter of time. We are going to win in the end. So let's focus on the good news we've had with restoration projects like this lately.

I cant tell you how a big a smile I got from reading that it was so simple yet so great. Its just saturated with confidence and it makes it so awesome.
Its on the level of " Never, Ill never turn to the Darkside. You've failed your highness, I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

Are you high or are you just naturally gullible. To have that much faith in Goerge Lucas is bordering on insanity.

P.S. As sluggo said, how is the project going?

Mike,

It's been a while....how is your project coming along? Are you still considering a private showing or two in the LA area one day?

Hope to hear from you....your talent speaks for itself....

Care to go into more detail about the additional material from private collections?
No naming names or anything, but what format(s) is this material on? Is it the full film, or just odds and ends?

Cheers,

John.

I'd be interested too in knowing what material he's sourcing this from.

The way he worded it, maybe he's using film. After downloading that clip, this project looks really good.
