Star Wars...The TV series!! — Page 3

This is just getting silly. To see this whole idea shot down without a chance, anger inducing for this Jedi. Still, I will say this. Who cares if it messes up? It just might, but it's not like Star Wars will not suddenly suck. Get over yourselves people. There are still fans out there who want Star Wars to continue and a move to TV to use a Trek word is very logical. Otherwise, SW will die out without even an attempt to keep it alive. And I would prefer it at least tried to continue. And since many of you think GL has fu@@ed up Star Wars with the prequals already, what the hell do you we have to lose?

even ST had/has a big following, so why not?

Has, I like the current ST show Enterprise, but that is getting off topic a little. But anyway, yes it ought to be tried because you can't lose any points with people who think Star Wars is already ruined.

I’m with Jedi Master DJR on this. I can’t understand why most of you are in negative “the glass is half empty” mode. I’ve mentioned this before, but modern television is the new medium for quality drama, surpassing even cinema. It has been even likened by critics to 1970’s cinema as a so called ‘Golden Age’. Which seems pretty apt if you ask me.

One thing is certain however; it will probably be shot down no matter what, as seems the norm with most things on the web now days. You can’t please everyone that’s for sure. I suppose my beef with all this is, this TV project has not even been officially announced and it’s already being shot down as ‘terrible news.’ Have you all truly reached the point when we are willing to disregard anything new? Have you become so inflexible in your vision that you reject everything that doesn’t adhere to your view? Will you simply right it off before it has a chance, pouncing on every bit of web rumour as fact? Congratulating yourselves in the knowledge that George Lucas actually DID ruin your lives, individually, purposefully and with malice?

So am I. And all things considered, if we are having a TV series and it is in some timeline within the 6 movies, since Hamill/Fisher/Ford are so old, the Episode 3 - Episode 4 timeline makes the most sense.

yeah, or even the pre ep1 era? maybe 10 years before ep1?

Well, I am saying within the movie era, from the beginning of Episode to the end of Episode 6. If we were taking into account EU, I would also go into the Tales of Jedi era of Star Wars history, it is the most undocumented, different from prequals and OT, and is just the best place to make new stories all things considered.

Should be at least 500 years before TPM.

Well, let's see if it comes, there are some good things they could do in the Episode 3 to 4 era.

FROM WHAT I'VE READ OFFICIALLY ON THIS TOPIC IS THAT LFL IS WANTING TO DEVELOPE A SITH ERA LIVE ACTION SERIES, SO THAT IT WOULDN'T HAVE TO TIE DIRECTLY INTO THE MOVIES. RICK MCCALLUM WAS THE ONE QUOTED ON THIS SUBJECT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO IN THE STAR WARS INSIDER.

I'm still keeping my thumbs crossed for a TV series set during the Galactic Civil War, with some new characters - not pivotal to the conflict - trying to survive the war... pirates? smugglers? common people? or maybe a story about somebody who volunteered for the Rebelion and we observe the conflict through his/her eyes? Everything spiced up to ESB mood... serve in cold and dark room with THX sound system.
The possibilities are countless... but with my luck they're gonna make a series about a mixed Ewok-Gungan family

oh yeah, that could be cool as well. follow the lives of "ordinary" people during ep4-6.

I'm just saying it could go really badly...if EpIII turns out to be an improvement, they might do a good TV show.

But immediately you compare to Star Trek and its terrible incarnations and I become afraid. But I don't doubt the potential.

You mean, like "Marvels" did with Marvel comics? What a cool idea... I mean, the whole story was always told by the Skywalker family's point of view...
