Star Wars...The TV series!! — Page 2

In the pure sense of the term "sci fi" (meaning it takes place in space and abounds with aliens and whatnot), then yes, it pretty much was the only legit one out there from the 80s to the early 90s. However, on a lesser scale, there was also Alien Nation. And on a not-quite-so-spacey-sci-fi scale, there was Quantum Leap.

I take some of what i said Back...

Yes I enjoyed St:TNG when it was on...watch it now and it's pretty lame...
Yes I enjoyed Quantem Leap when it was on...It's Ok now!

The thing is, not so long ago my dickhead mate from work always kept going on about how they were going to make a TV show on Star Wars, and I kept saying dont talk shit man...

Now if it all comes true, I'm the one who's gonna be eating shit...and I ain't happy about it!!

But the thought of SW the TV series still fills me with dread, and if it's true when they are basing it, pre Ep4, then man, who's gonna play Vader...

Oh dear.........

Both Quantum Leap & Alien Nation made their TV debut in 1989. With Star Trek TNG already being on air since ’87. So it was a single lonely shining star of Sci Fi TV for a couple years.

Who's gonna play Vader is the least of my concerns to be honest. He's a man in a mask. Who's gonna play some of the face-time principal roles like Obi Wan, Bail, and Padme (if she survives Ep 3) as well as future characters like Han all of whom are characters that have faces attached to them in our minds and would be nearly impossible to replace with other actors and the film actors are not likely to sign on for a series. The possibilities frighten me.

i always thought that sci-fi meant Scientific and Fictional.

Close... Science Fiction. Can't say scientific as that tends to imply some truth to the science displayed in the genre. And, how often do we see good science being shown in scifi movies/TV? Not very often.

And as I was saying, be careful with the use of the word "scientific".

It sounds like a good idea, but it could turn into a disaster like Startrek Enterprise.

Nothing is known about it at all. Yet people are all ready saying ‘I don’t like the sound of this’ What is wrong with you all? This type of reaction never happens when a new novel is announced, or graphic book. However, if it turns out to be a new ‘animated show’, that would seem to have the thumbs up of approval? Can anybody please offer a good reason to disregard the notion of this project, without using phrases like ‘dude’ & ‘sucks’? I await with baited breath, for your no doubt amusing replies.

What do you mean "Everyone"? I didn't disregard the idea. I said I would give it a fair chance.

A TV series bases a the Good guys being wiped out? thats not goiing to sell. Also, the series would not be able to last long. There's only so many Jedi and there's only a certain amount of time btw ep III and ep IV

I'm not so sure about this... a live-action TV series could kill SW universe for ever, or it could be great and bring it back to it's glorious OT times, one of those things. As long as it's not set during the time between episodes 1 and 6, and doesn't feature a laugh track.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Well, I wouldn't mind if it was way back like Motti said. Then, u can have original plot lines & such. Completely new characters, allowing the public to become familiar w/ SW w/o the pressure of seeing the movies. That would draw a new audience too.
