Interesting! I’ll be following this project closely. Personally I think you should use the blu-rays as a primary source and splice in other versions when needed.

I searched this forum, and many other pages over the net, but haven’t found a 1080p extended edition of any Star Wars movie (yet); so I think it could be a good idea to start this project - that, I’m aware, is really ambitious.
What I’d like to do is to reinsert as many deleted/extended scenes as possible; I know ADigitalMan did a good job, with his prequel trilogy extended edition DVDs; but, at the time, the BDs were not available yet, with all their exclusive deleted scenes; also, don’t know anything about similar HD finished projects of original trilogy, or EP 7.
Complete anymatics scenes, or ones with a lot of unfinished effects, will be left out (unless someone is so skilled to finish them!); good quality finished scenes will be left untouched, apart a bit of denoise and upscale; good quality partially unfinished scenes will be analyzed, to see if it’s possible to finish them, or cut the unfinished parts leaving enough worth footage; bad quality finished scenes will be cleaned as much as possible and, if final quality is reasonably good, they will be used; missing or unfinished audio should be replaced, to obtain usable footage.
This topic will be mainly used to discover which scenes, technically or not, could be used, and which could be corrected (and how), or not to be used at all.

Interesting! I’ll be following this project closely. Personally I think you should use the blu-rays as a primary source and splice in other versions when needed.
Use the theatrical version for the OT as a base model. Most deleted scenes would not have post-effects on them, and you can verify some scenes are closer to their original cinematography this way as well.
If the point is to extend the movies as much as possible though, the DVD and blu-ray versions are the longest incarnations of the movies with additions like the Jabba scene and new FX sequences. I would think we’re not too concerned about artistic integrity as most of these scenes were cut for a reason in the first place.
The BD has better quality, and it will be used as main source; others only if/when needed; even if it’s true that OT scenes are “rough” and would stay better with the theatrical version, this project aims to incorporate as many scenes as possible, so I’ll use BD version as main source - it’s a fan edit, after all, not a preservation… still don’t know how good the final result could be; maybe it will lead the project to be split in two, one with the best possible quality (so it’s implicit some scenes will be discarded), and the other with all the scenes… “the more, the merrier” (^^,)

Updates:
- EP1 DVD deleted scenes clean and upscale task is almost done - just extended pod race grid should be encoded.
- Tested EP2 shot present in the teaser #3, incorporated into the proper scene; video is cleaned, upscaled, and a rough color correction is done; audio is “surrondized” to be 5.1, but, apart this, is untouched (needs correction, though); test clip: https://fs02n3.sendspace.com/dl/7ebc87526146b4b2a86789d5ba3cb21b/583c7daf5badb6f6/0t31z8/test1b_.mkv (download link valid until 2017-01-26) - I think that, once properly corrected, it * may * work! *** OPINIONS NEEDED! ***
i like the longest one with every missing frame in the movie!
Thanks to everyone; any advice is appreciated!

Updates:
- DVD extended scene 4 “The Air Taxi sequence” was actually inserted in the DVD (HDTV/BD) and so I thought it’s useless, BUT… there are few seconds more at the end… what if I take the following shot from LD (which is the non-faded version of the one found on DVD etc.) and attach it at the end? I will “gain” two or three seconds… not much, but, following the mission of this project, it could work! Test clip (download link will expire on 2017-01-27): https://fs11n1.sendspace.com/dl/aabdea1c995e1d05c6e17682b5498ff0/583d3201350ad49d/0ba6c8/EP1_deleted_scene_04_.mkv - just a rough cut, LD is just simply upscaled and not cleaned at all, done just to see if it could work; it seems so! ** OPINIONS, OPINIONS! **
- now I have an LD shot, unused, that was on the theatrical cut only; OK, only 4 seconds included the wipe, but it’s still a nice shot: https://fs13n5.sendspace.com/dl/dde5773428c32938c9bf74dd74c5d067/583d3add08fc454d/laoqe3/EP1_LD_shot4.avi (download link will expire on 2017-01-27) - rough, first part of the wipe could obviously be replaced with the needed one; music missing. ** SHOULD I PUT IN THIS, TOO? **

i like to see all of the missing scenes.i don´t care the quality.
thanks
Maybe a * raw * edition - with every scene left untouched (apart unfinished/animatics ones) could be surely done, but I don’t see the point to release it, at least in HD though, taken in account the low quality of many scenes… maybe just for fun, but I don’t think anybody will waste time and hard disk space to download 150+GB of almost-all-parts-are-HD-apart-added-deleted-scene fan edits…

Welcome aboard! Yep, it will be a HUGE help to the project!
I want also to thank benduwan; he let me discover the rarest deleted/extended scenes and shots ever seen (or unseen?) before!

I echo this. I’ve got a fascination with deleted scenes and would love to see everything inserted. I’ve even got a collection of obscure clips (not full scenes) you could add if you’re interested.

Oh, didn’t see this. Wondering if he got some of these from me. He was really interested in my project.
Any chance once all the clips are collected, cleaned, and or colorized, could be all put together in one file and uploaded some where?
thanks
Hi! First post. I would be more than happy to colorize the deleted scenes from V and VI. (When Applicable)
Do you have an efficient method for doing so? As I understand it, it takes entire studios to do this sort of thing.
Thanks

Sure do, I use avisynth scripts to start and then I adjust and correct with photoshop.

Can you do a small test of this, I’m really interested in what is possible? Maybe a scene of the deleted rebel pilots from jedi or the extended han leia kiss from empire?
Thanks
Must say thank you to everyone who offer their help to this project; now, we need an audio editor…

I’m working on some of the deleted scenes. It can take quite a while, but you can see the following as a quick example. (I know, I should pick better test subjects 😃 )
We all would like to see actual Star Wars footage, I think… (^^,)
