I got a bad feeling about this.
Where were you in '77?
Seriously though, parody movies have been dead for a while now. Gone are the days of Austin Powers, Young Frankenstein and Spaceballs, and we can thank the Wayans brothers for killing the genre.
agreed. haven’t enjoyed a parody movie since, well, since the advent of youtube and online video?
i would watch a 20 minute parody of TFA online for free, but actually go to a theater for 1+ hour, or rent it? nah… pass.
Stealing that for the OT twitter. 😉

Your contempt for the Wayans brothers pleases me.

FTFY
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

You can only blame them for the first two Scary Movie films though. The ones that the Airplane! guys worked on have their moments. The other Movie films are truly awful, and are probably used as a form of torture somewhere in the world. I saw a few minutes of Meet The Spartans, (an alleged spoof of 300) and nearly passed out.

I already started guessing the jokes in a FB group:
Ends with a three-way between the Rey, Finn, and Poe analogs.
Old Kirk and New Kirk will fight somehow, while Uhura and Spock make out.
this is going to have someone who looks like Keanu Reeves kick a dog and shoot people in the head at some point, with the other characters yelling “oh shit, it’s John Wick!”
The small person they use in all their movies as Tyrion Lannister screwing a prostitute while drinking and shooting a crossbow.
The Stranger Things gang run into a scene, yell something, then run out.
Kylo Ren fires up his lightsabre and it’s hilariously a three pronged sex toy?
Supreme Leader Snoke on the toilet for sure.
BB-8 is just a soccer ball. But that’s actually kind of funny.
The Maz Kanata analogue is essentially Tyler Perry’s Madea, telling everyone they need Force Jesus.
The cantina band is Lady Gaga held up by wires.
Their Captain Phasma (Colonel Vag-ma, or some such shit) is Carmen Elecktra in a silver bikini and a helmet.
Randy Quaid makes an appearance as The Man in Black from Westworld.
Yes, Jakku is the old west, and it turns out they’re all robots, who could have guessed.
Our leads are hiding out in the Millennial Snowflake, when the true owner walks out, and who is it? But the Fast family and they start talking about family. Then something large falls on them
END OF JOKE
Doubles for all the principal actors begin body-popping.
What pop song is just old enough to include in a scene of Trump and Putin dancing?
“Happy”
I predict Ham Salad, the famous smuggler, will have plenty of things to say about the Millennial Snowflake.
And don’t forget the jokes about Hamilton, and how it’s just School House Rock for hipsters. Or. Something.
Just like a hundred lightsabers-as-dicks jokes
A tree will say I am groot. That’s it.
Also they will take a popular film set to be released around the time and insert something from the trailer in it.
Kylo Ren unmasks and he’s trump. That’s the joke. Oh wait, he mentions the Starkiller Base being yuge, and the rebellion is gonna pay for it.
The next time Kylo unmasks, no mention of the trump thing at all- instead Kylo’s a Shia Labeouf analogue who, after killing Han Solo (or I guess Hung Solow) picks up a fedora and puts it on- cue Indiana Jones theme because that’s still topical? He then says “My franchise now!”

Hardware Wars used Ham Salad already. No doubt the writers of this won’t care.
I imagine a lot of unfunny GOTG jokes. Probably a foul mouthed raccoon puppet with a gun?

The Millennial Snowflake joke is guaranteed.

Where’s the “like” button when you need it?
I think rather than a list of jokes they will make, it might be more interesting to make a list of jokes they won’t make, likely ones that are actually good and might fit into what a parody is about.
Like meta humour about how casual audiences mistook Rogue One for Episode VIII at first. I could see great humour made out of it, but requiring too much thought put into the script for a parody like this.
I’m down for another Star Wars parody, but not by these yokels. I’m still holding out hope for Spaceballs 2.
Parodies have gone through quite a rough patch and I think its partly because they seem aimless. I’ve heard the Lego Batman movie sparks some hope that good parodies can still be made.
Well my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.
This movie has a 99 percent chance of being a one out of ten.
Not enough people read the EU.
Yeah, I had a bad feeling when I read about the parody. I watched a few of the more recent parody movies, and what a waste of time, and I saw it on TV. We definitely need Mel Brooks to find more money, in order to make Spaceballs 2: The Search for the Proper Prequels.
Seltzer and Friedberg “films” don’t get theatrical releases anymore. This will be direct to video and streaming.
The Person in Question
They probably do get a limited release on a handful of screens somewhere, (I presume the doors are locked to keep patrons from fleeing) or else the IMDB is wrong. Straight to video stuff doesn’t bother with an MPAA rating as it does cost more than a few bucks just to submit a movie to the ratings board.

Ehh movie parodies are kinda dead. No doubt the joke of ‘the force’ will be overly used. If I see this I’ll likely see it out of loyalty as a SW fan but not much else. I’d rather have Spaceballs 2 and truthfully it’s kinda pointless for that at this stage.
I think the XXX parody from a few years back may have stolen the thunder from this. 😉

They actually made an XXX parody of Star Wars? I guess nothing is sacred anymore.
I’m amazed they got away with putting “Star Wars” on the cover, tbh.
And it’s a discredited genre now, but in the 70s the line between porn parody SF and actual SF was very thin indeed. There’s a reason several future Star Trek VFX artists worked on the 1974 Flesh Gordon.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
There are many parodies that use the actual title and put “A Porn Parody” at the bottom.
Interesting, didn’t know that. It’s true, Flesh Gordon did have a lot of great FX, considering it’s a parody from the 70’s.
If I see this I’ll likely see it out of loyalty as a SW fan
This makes no sense to me. Did you see the porn parody?
