I plan to copy it to my own HDD on Friday/Saturday and until then it will stay safe-and-sound packaged in a HDD shipping box with anti-static wrapping as well.

After that I'll work on getting everything on Usenet.

I'm willing to do HDD->HDD copies, but with the following requirements:

  1. >=1TB SATA drive (possibly 750GB, but I'll have to check first)

  2. You pay shipping costs, both ways

  3. It must be sent in reusable packaging

Could you upload a few untouched shots? They're probably ridiculously huge, but maybe a 10 of them? :)

Sure, but I won't be able to get around to this until Friday/Saturday as well.

Tonight (and possibly tomorrow) will be quite busy for me.

That's fine. The frames aren't huge, so I won't be posting the samples to Usenet. I'll probably just use imgur.

If I'm not mistaken imgur recompresses your images on upload, doesn't it? Maybe just use Dropbox or something...

 Imgur will recompress any non-animated image over 1 MB to a jpg.

The files are in high bit-depth .exr format, so if anyone wants to view them I would recommend downloading the free version of Davinci Resolve, or the trial version/PLE version of Nuke

Both are multi-platform (OSX, Linux, Windows) and support the OpenEXR format correctly.

I'm going to run a S.M.A.R.T. self-test (smartctl -t long) on my new WD10EZEX before copying the data over.

I've already done a single pass of badblocks -wvs with it, so the aforementioned S.M.A.R.T. test should (hopefully) expose any issues.

I'm in and out of hospital again, so I won't be doing any more on this project, apart from perhaps supplying some 35mm scans graded to the 35mm print to use for colour reference.

AnctuFaalb will be taking it from here.

Yes.

My plan is to get the raws up on Usenet as quickly as possible. After that I'll be doing HDD->HDD transfers for interested members.

Finally, I plan to tackle the cleanup work using an automatic+manual workflow with a herein-unnamed (PM me for details) program.

We've a baby due in late April, so I've no idea how long the cleanup part will take. I'd estimate 6 months to a year for a decent job, but I can't make any promises.

Update: I'm running md5deep on the full sws8 directory tonight. It's running faster than I thought it would.

Doing this will allow me to verify that the files on my HDD (after the HDD->HDD transfer) are identical to the ones on poita's HDD.

I will also include the file with the Usenet upload so that downloaders can check the files they've downloaded. This is much better than the CRC32 you get with, e.g., SFV.
