This optical disc obsession is a bit old hat now though.

If only Lucas had a website where he could put up the components of these sets up for people to legally download only the bits they want it would be so much easier and possibly make him more money.

The poor dear really needs it by the sound of things.

I love having the films I like in some touchable form, I don't like this whole download thing, I don't feel like I have a film unless I can touch it.

There are so many jokes here...

(For what it's worth, I agree with you Harmy when it comes to movies.  Music, however...)

Star Wars "the App" is coming.

Everyone will be renting media, if society doesn't wake up.

From the size of the blu-ray log on this release, LFL might be getting a double pay day.

The magically appearing TIE's in the ROTJ space battle? I don't know about that one honestly. It's won't be like that Adywan Revisited stuff though.

Phew! I did think Ady's Revisited battle scene in ROTJ was a little weird. Haha. ;)

In his defence, I don't think he doesn't know about Revisited Jedi not being out, he means that not every tiny little thing will be fixed, like it is in Ady's edits.

You your defense?

In my defense I'm just hitting these keys randomly and if you see what appear to be coherent sentences written by the majority of the people on this forum it's just a bizarre coincidence.

Keep talking, you!

Oh, and I thought the clip that originally appeared on YouTube of Luke building his saber was gone, but turns out there are other versions. Here's one without audience noise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0750bfNQx8

I didn't realize Luke talked in it. Would sound better if he didn't, actually. (unless the uploader just added that. I noticed the music was in way too good quality to match the video)

Man, I am going to look SLAMMIN' in 1080p.  Don't know why I wasn't in the trailer, however.

Why release the OT as a separate box set if the originals are not going to be there? It is a box set that appeals to no one. All you get is just the 04 DVDs upgraded to BD for twice the money. It is just an overpriced counterfeit product that is passed off as the real version.

I assure you that there are many people out there who don't care for the prequels but don't mind the SEs. Like my uncle, who said he liked the originals better, when the SE came out,, but now has the 2004 DVD set and is ok with it, to him they're just movies and the changes don't bother him but he doesn't like the prequels and isn't the type to watch supplements, so he'd definitely buy the separate OT set, if he cared about HD, which he doesn't...

If you buy either trilogy separately and not the saga box you don't get the 3 bonus discs.

Say you just wanted the 2004 in HD with the oot deleted scenes.  Well you cannot get the bonus deleted scenes without also purchasing the turd prequel trilogy.

I would love to have the 1997 special editions and oot on the blu ray set as well.  Too bad no fan prior to 2004 will be satisfied.  Those happy with the 2004 crap will be excited beyond measure.  Me i am not one bit happy.

What does the saga set not have.

No Theatrical prequels.  No Imax cut of episode II.  No theatrical 77-83 oot, no 1997 special edition.  No original audio.

I know. That's why I said:  "and isn't the type to watch supplements"

I actually know a lot of people who don't give a rat's ass about watching documentaries and deleted scenes. I must say that with very few exceptions, that would be anyone over 40 from my surroundings.

Problem with buying the OT box only is that you can't see the 2004 SE pretending it's the only trilogy, because Hayden's ghost fucked the whole thing... unless there is seemless branching with the 1997 SE...

That and you don't get to see the 30 hours of bonus features on 3 extra discs.  Problem is just like having to buy the bad 2004 cuts twice to get the ported over laserdisc masters as a bonus feature.

You have to purchase the prequels bundled together with the special editions of the original trilogy.  I bet Lucas did this on purpose knowing people would who would not buy the prequels otherwise have to be forced into buying them for the exclusives.

Imagine what a dream it would be to just buy the oot with the old school documentaries and deleted scenes all in restored quality, and no special editions or no prequels.  Sadly Lucas does not want us to have our cake and eat it too.

Suuuuuuuuuuure. :p It would be nice if the 1997 SE was an option, though, even if it just had that version of Jabba. I must say he looked way better in '97 than in '04. How hard was it to make him look like he does in ROTJ?! He looks like really gross oatmeal or something in the '04 SE!

Really? They both look really bad, 97 worse.

I wish I could remember where the footage of the ILM bod saying that they were aiming for creating the impression that they had just filmed Jabba in 1977 when the SEs were released in 1997 is readily stored, gives me a giggle everytime.

I agree with you.  I too know plenty of people who don't like the prequels but don't mind the Special Editions and don't care about supplements.  The option to buy both trilogies isn't a bad one for many people.

Seamless branching of the 1997 SE would be nice, but I doubt it will happen.  Strange as it seems, I prefer the old CG Jabba too.  I couldn't tell you why; I just do.

Me too, even though objectively the new one does look better... OMG, is it possible that I'm feeling nostalgia for the 97 version?

Even though I objected to many of the changes, it was still the first time I got to see any of the Star Wars movies in a theater, so there will always be a warm place in my heart for the 1997 versions. :) That trailer with the TV was awesome, too. I can still get goosebumps watching that one.

Plus one on both - the joke and the views.  For reasons I'm not sure of (nor really care to figure out), I prefer a pressed disc, substantial copy of a film.  For music, I'm much less concerned.  I buy CDs fairly often, but I'm completely ok with downloads as well.  Could be a cost thing, maybe.  If I lose a song, which has never happened (and I've legally downloaded more than I can count), I can always pay a buck and get it back.  Music seems forever gettable, but films seem like they may not be.  Completely unsubstantiated, I know.

That said;  A downloadable, properly presented copy of Star Wars77 - I'm all over it. Regardless of cost.

The 97 Jabba model is awful beyond words but the colours are pretty close, the 2004 model is much better but the colours are way off, the nearly black arms make him look like he is wearing lady's evening gloves...

opps must clean those pans again.
