I meant no disrespect really when I said "in depth,techical complaints". I freely admit I'm one of G.Lucas' "cool aid" drinkers. There are a lot of added stuff I never was thrilled with...two for ex. " Luke screaming down the Bespin shaft when he jumps off ...which was really just the Emperor's scream from ROTJ,lol...I mean they couldn't even have someone else scream??,,thankfully that was taken out. Also from Empire..all that extra footage of Vader leaving Cloud City and landing on the Executor...to be greeted by, ..Moff Jerjerrod?? WTF? The original and simple "Bring my shuttle" was SOOOO much simplier and menacing. I can go on and on,I'm that upset over this Blu ray fiasco. It's like Michelangelo changing his statue of "David"s penis size...would it make it a better and more impressive statue or simply make one of the most famous pieces of art into an almost pornographic joke?

After seeing the german ESB blu ray (~42gb) at home i must say I like the menu, I watched the first 15min of the new commentary which was really interesting, even alec guiness is speaking there.

Well, they didn't go back to the original name in the crawl Krieg der Sterne but used Star Wars like on the 2004 DVDs. That's bad for original trilogy fans.

I dislike that the english dts track is not dts hd master, and it only features 768 kbit instead of possible 1536 kbit.

There is no easter egg on this blu-ray disc, I did go through the streamlist directory directly to check that.

German audio sounded good so far but I didn't really watched the whole movie yet.

Oh. my. GOD!!!!

 

It shouldn't come as a surprise that this set would be somehow fucked up, but geez! I wasn't planning on buying it, but now I have to tell people that could possibly think of it as a "good" birthday or Xmas present to refrain from buying it for me. I just simply don't want this versions, in any way or form.

All the extras, I'll get those, but won't be giving Lucas any money for them. Maybe borrow them, idk.

Funny that NO ONE is talking about the BD prequels apart from the TPM digiyoda (which I think IS a change for the best considering the awuful puppet)

AOTC and ROTS? Nothing....people just don't care to even rip them, and if someone has, no one cares to comment on them if they have or not changes. I for one, couldn't care less for the PT, and now I mostly don;t for the OT either. Sad.

Thanks again to Adywan for the Revisited project. It's already my preferred versions over all, and to the guys that made the HD unaltered versions, Kudos to you and hopefully I'll d/l those in the near future.

I was actually just sitting here and the announcer on the radio station I'm listening to mentioned the uproar over the new blu-rays. They played the audio from that joke nooooooooo youtube video (the "heh heh heh" one). ;-)

By the time G.F. Lucas is done altering these things, say in 2 or 3 new format releases, Frink's versions will look like they're a serious attempt at toning down the idiocy! ;)

 

BTW, Frink, looove your TRM edit! Lucky for you now the Palps dead scene needs no touching up from you now. Less work for ya! wheeeee!

That is one ugly CGI addition :-/ He looks so unbelievably out of place and the quality of the CGI is terribly 90s (I guess that would be because it is 90s CGI...)

 The acronym is AVCHD.  And the restored OOT HD ones aren't made by Adywan, they're made by Harmy (though he used, with permission, many other peoples' work in the process & I believe some of Adywan's wok is included).

Yeah, after posting that i went to the preservations forum and found the threads almost at the top (shouldv'e done that before posting) so I edited out my off topic post as to not derail the conversation from this WONDERFUL Bd release...lol

I disagree strongly. Although it is only my opinion the film should look like a film and remain as the 1983 version was, that i first saw in 1985 on the silver screen.

All the bad cgi additions to the films since the 90's are all neither needed nor add any charm to the films, in fact they remove a lot of charm from the era in which they were made to being some bad redo that fits no time really.  When the originals were timeless.

Now that George thinks about it, he realizes those scenes aren't very kid-friendly and might encourage children to experiment with drugs when they get older. So expect the bong-smoking minions to be replaced with bubble-blowing minions when ROTJ is eventually released on 3Disc in 2029.

IMO, the new Digital Yoda is a good change, but they need to get it to match the dialogue better.  You'll notice that Yoda's voice was darker in Episodes II and III.  It was much higher in Episode I.  This sort of throws me off.  New CGI Yoda would require altering Yoda's voice or re-recording it from scratch.

Well Lucas did not replace Tippett's stuff with cgi did he?

The Walkers are still the same.  The Rancor is the same only recomped, the tauntaun has not been changed as far as i am aware not even on the blu ray.

Muren thought the Walker sequence in empire should have been completely redone in cgi and Lucas said it was not necessary, it was Lucas who saved the original scenes from being violated by cgi.

I was just showing an Irony that happened in 1996, Lucas thought the scene was good enough already.

If it had bothered him i am sure we would have gotten some really bad cgi Walker Replacement.

Had he redone it today he would try and tie it in with the attack of the clones walkers.  I hope he leaves it alone.
