Do we know if netflix is going to have the deleted scenes disc available?
Do we know if netflix is going to have the deleted scenes disc available?
Well, in all this madness one thing is clear: Lucas has succeeded in making Star Wars relevant again, even if for a short amount of time.
It makes me think that if he released the UOT there'd have a nub nub type celebration instead of widespread outrage, leaks, forum posts, and even news stories on the new changes.
There's no publicity like bad publicity. 99% of consumers will buy this set because of the title on the box without having read any reviews or heard any rumors/confirmations of changes. I've even read many posts of people saying they'll get the set anyways because it's SW on blu.
Darth Lucas wins again. Noo. Noooooo!
“Grow up. These are my Disney's movies, not yours.”
Wait, they got rid of the father, please line for real?? (nm, kinda false alarm)
Next time, just go the extra mile and splice in a flashback montage of PT clips. Now THAT's how you write drama! /sarcasm
What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

back on topic, the one thing that has pissed me off EVEN MORE about the addition of the NOOOOOOOO in ROTJ, is that they have removed Lukes line " Father... Please.." just so they can add this crap. So basically now he no longer hears his son crying out for help and makes the turn, he just turns. Fuck me Lucas, what the hell is going on with you?
What. The. Fuck.
'nuff sed
i was re-editing it as you wrote this. It was the wrong line i spoke about there. I've edited the post to correct my mistake.
The new Krayt Dragon call actually sounds really cool and creepy during that echo part, but then it becomes this new guy's voice and it just dies.
R.e. Luke's "Father, please," that comes some moments before Darth's "Noo. Nooooo!" line. I haven't watched the rips, but based on previous versions of these movies it would not be necessary to remove Luke's line in order to add Vader's line. In other words, the order of lines/events in the original scene is:
"Father, please."
"Now, young Skywalker, you will die."
More force lightning.
Vader tosses Palps.
But, adywan and others have watched the rips, so if it's true then it makes no sense at all to me. Those two lines come at different moments.

It is still there, just barely, but so quiet and gets drowned out by vaders first Nooo
Well it looks like we are going to have to do some audio editing on these new Blu's right Ady?
Fuck Star Wars. I'm sick of it.
If you need me, I'll be in my usual place. Off-Topic.
One has to wonder what is being discussed at the The Ranch right now...

no, it's his last plea "father" right before he pick up the emperor that is now almost gone because they have lowered the dialogue and drowned the remains of it underneath the first No.

Probably which psychiatric hospital George should be committed to? (j/k. lol)
I've successfully convinced one friend to cancel their Blu-Ray and pick up the 2006 DVDs instead. Better than nothing (he wants to own them in physical form)!

How he is going to FU the OT even more for the future 3D release.
Every little thing helps.
I'm not sure if anything could get through to the man himself but if his family wants to continue to draw an income from these films, perhaps the message will finally sink in.

Gotcha!
This has all been bittersweet for me. I'm glad the apologists are forced to deal with the reality of Lucas' greed and indifference to the integrity of these films, but those things still bother me a bit.
Matthew Wood and George Lucas are toasting glasses of blue milk with each other right now.

I wonder where Ken is now. lol
This all reminds me of Harold Camping for some strange reason. G-:
Press release from Lionsgate re: 10/25 DVD release of "The People vs George Lucas":
"With all the recent uproar over the news of further changes to the original films in this new set, fans will feel in good company as the film devotes an entire section to the changes made to the 1997 re-releases, making this the perfect compliment to the Blu-ray Discs. But the film isn't all about the changes – it also features the fans and media expressing their love and admiration of him as well."
For what it's worth, has ANY source mentioning the Blu-Ray not either blatantly or backhandedly called Lucas a douche?
I'm torn as to whether to ever get this. I'm not pre-ordering it, and I'm not particularly pleased with some of the changes (beyond the aesthetic issues, they also serve to unify the OT and PT - a goal I understand, but if you're gonna try to mix them, preserve the originals too! Ugh). But the deleted scenes, even in not-so-great quality, are something I've wanted to see for a long time, and the Archives thing looks cool (assuming there are some little-known props and models in there). I heard there is a concept art gallery on there as well, and that's always been one of my favorite aspects of SW. So... I dunno.
"Star Wars films are basically silent movies. And they're designed as silent movies, therefore the music carries a -- has a very large role in carrying the story, more than it would in a normal movie." -GL
"NOO! NOOOOOO!!" - Darth Vader
The 04's had the bad video with screwy audio. Now the video is screwy and the audio bad. It seems all the levels have been messed with and every sound element scrubbed clean of any hiss or information.
WHY?
VADER!? WHERE THE HELL IS MY MOCHA LATTE? -Palpy on a very bad day.

Vader screams "NOOOOO" in a not-Vader voice before throwing Palpatine down the shaft. Decision made.
Seriously though, just get the bonus disc on ebay on its own.

Went to TheForce.net forums for the first time. Aren't they are enemies?
Anyhoo, there's a thread in their OriginalTrilogy section that's 100% anti-"Nooooooo!" and in their Saga section its about 75% ant-"Nooooooo!"
That suprises me because the majority of those people are always lockstep in defending Lucas for changing anything.
Sadly, there are enough SW fans out there who will buy this product, so it won't make a dent in the Lucas bank. The only way he willl stop this shit is if one of the boxsets doesn't sell, and then they'll get the point. Now I am not saying that fans will endorse this change, but there are enough fans out there who love the movies so much, they put up with these changes.
I for one always thought Jedi was the weakest of the OT, and now Lucas has made this movie unwatchable for me, and that was BEFORE this ridiculous change! I still can't watch the ending with Dickhead Hayden as a force ghost, but now the WHOLE ending is ruined when Vader saves Luke.
It's really sad that SW has gotten this way, as it would be so easy for Lucas to bring back my enjoyment of the movies. I have so many BluRay movies and I am used to the great quality they display on screen, as I just can't go back to watching crappy laserdisk versions of the OOT. As a lifelong SW fan, I can honestly say I can't remember the last time I sat down and popped in a SW movie.
I used the shots I had to start some comparisons:
