I've been thinking about the deleted scenes. They are interesting I guess, but if I never see them it won't kill me. The whole "Wow, deleted scenes!" was cool at the beginning of the DVD era, but I've come to realize that most were  deleted for good reason and are little more than curiosities.

I don't know about you, but I've been looking forward to seeing the deleted scenes since 1977 when I read the novelization and the Star Wars Storybook.  I don't know how old you are, but there are some geeza's out there who having some serious conflict about buying/not buying because of the bonus discs.

I always figured I'd purchase the BR set eventually.

If it's true about "No! Noooooooooo!" then I have to say No. Noooooooooo.

I'll check the deleted scenes out on YouTube and enjoy my fan created recreations.

I feel the same way, but I suppose I could rent/borrow the extras discs.

There's a short article on the BD release on UK yahoo.

That's me in a nutshell. Conflicted!

anyway, the director Rian Johnson cares:

My issue with the SW SEs is film preservation. Even if the orig neg was destroyed, Lucas must secretly have a good IP vaulted. Right?

I've seen them on youtube and Deleted Magic. That was good enough. And at what age is one considered a "geeza" in Star Wars fandom? Over 30? Over 40?

For real?

Real.

OR

One who was there in '77.

There have been actual clips put up of the Ewok eyes and the Jabba gate so has there been a confirmed film featuring the dreaded no! Noooooooooooooo!, (the famous one seems to be a fan mock up).

Then I'm a geeza. Easily.

JabbaGate was in 1997. Oh, "Jabba's Gate"! ;-)

Can I just ask, how hard is it to have 2 copies of the films on each disc (a HD version of the theatrical version and then a copy of the updated/CGI version of the film)

We've all been asking that for years.

Well, with all the changes he's done to the audio and video(including color timing) it'd be impossible to do seamless branching. So it'd either be two discs(disc 1- Special Edition, Disc 2- Theatrical, Etc.) or two really badly compressed cuts.

Welcome to the boards and I do believe you are our first Lurker's Name Suggestion User. :-)

Yep. I've been lurking here for a while now(hearing about Star Wars: Revisited led me to the site) and it's quite an interesting community, if I may say so. And the stupidity on the Star Wars thread at Blu-ray.com is just ridiculous. I've felt compelled to strangle that starwarsagent guy sometimes. :p

The one star reviews have now passed the five star reviews at Amazon.com. They are equal at Amazon.ca. I hope this trend keeps going, maybe someone will finally realize what they're doing to these movies and the fans. And I love all the negative feeback from sites reporting this.

I actually had hope for this set and was 99% sure I was going to buy it. Now? Save my 99 bucks and download the deleted scenes.

Yeah, 19 sounds about right. The kids (and their moms' cash) are the only demographic LFL truly values anyway.

Seeing modern Lucas with his constant revisionism, I really have to wonder if he ever snuck any changes into the theatrical re-releases and home releases in the 80s.

I know we have a few bootlegs for comparison. But what if these were minor tweaks that might not register in the bootlegs?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Yeah, that's important. Apparently you can still see the wire pulling him back, but they gave him more doodads! I'm surprised one of the rocket boosters isn't going off.

^Maybe Lucas will insert a scene of R2 blasting off in an uncontrolled flight, too.

The "no" is what kills me the most; the rest of these are inconsequential, as I could always go back to anything from before. But, for the climax of Return to be changed like that in such a way...

Wow.  He's got everything.

Except maybe BLASTER BOLT DAMAGE?!  Wasn't he just shot?

It's not the first time that the ending of RotJ was royally f***ed over....
