I love the smell of dts hd ma bluray melting plastic in the morning.

For a 40+ year old bloke you sure act like a whiney little girl. Maybe locking yourself in your little room watching your laserdiscs in your underwear  has fried your brain a little.I thought i would fix your comment to reflect what you really wanted to say...

The pink hue  is not going to be on the actual blu-rays some of you on here are over re-acting. I will be buying this set if some of you are not that's fine.

How do you know this? Do you have the Blu-Ray? Why don't you wait until the Blu-rays actually come out before you start saying that there is no pink hue. I'm sure that the collars of the  blu-rays will be pink and you need to stop complaning because it is george lucas film and he is god and don't you dare say anything against him kenkraly. You hear me. Now stop it. I will not say it again. Your just mean

;)

But seriously, why the hell is there still an argument going on over at blu-ray.com about the bloody pink sabres? Idiots like danny_boy still claim that they were supposed to be pink because a photo taken from a cinema screen shows it (even though it the core that is pink and the glow, which everyone was talking about, is red). And then they are using old promotional material where vaders sabre looks pink. It's all pathetic. The colours are screwed on most of the lightsaber shots and vaders sabre swaps from pink to red. how can this be intentional if his sabre was always supposed to have been pink?  yet they ignore the fact that the sith sabres in the prequels are bloody red all the way though. If they were supposed to be pink all the time in the OT then why the hell did they make them red in the PT?

How can people really just say "i don't care how bad the colours of the set looks, it's star wars on blu-ray. i'm going to buy it anyway because it's how george wants the films to look"? Brainwashed sheep

Well, I suppose LFL felt that they needed to make some change. I guess that I like that they bothered to make color adjustments, but was it in the right direction? All of that ESB footage looks terrible... When light shines on Luke's face in the trailer, I just can't believe how pink it looks... I daresay the colors are even more messed up. The engines of all the X-Wings are a horrid shade of purple. Still, it looks like they have some green screen elements available for viewing, could be interesting.

Is it just me or does Vader's newfound purple saber remind you of this shot of Mace? More PT-conforming... :-(

It's funny. Lucas refused to follow the EU route by giving the Jedi/Sith multiple lightsaber colours (with Windu being the sole exception) in the PT, but goes and changes the lightsaber colours in the OT to all sorts of wonky shades.

Isn't it ironic, don'tcha think?

I can at least be grateful that they didn't make the OT sabers pointy.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Personally, I hate dvd/bluray menus and find them (particularly the transitions) a waste of time.

But these are pretty menus, so good job menu-guys.

Yeah, the longer the menu lasts, the more annoyed I am.

Yeah pointy on the end reminds me of a toy or felt tip sharpie marker or something...

Some BluRay menus only seem to add to the loading time, and no "just play the damn movie already!" option.

So now Vader's saber is purplish color, though not a solid purple like Mace Windu's saber.  How is that an improvement over bubblegum pink?

The deleted scenes and documentaries i do want.  But i don't want the special editions the ruined versions from 2004 even further ruined or the prequels.

I do want the oot and the 1997 special edition, but would settle for just the oot.

I would even be fine with just Lucas scanning his technicolor print of sw 77 and releasing it barebones with no extras except the 3 sound mixes.

As for empire and jedi there are no dye transfer prints so i am not so sure what the best quality existing prints are.

The ONLY reason why I'm buying the new set are the deleted scenes from the OT. Which is kinda sad

There are actually people out there who would argue that Vader's lightsaber was always pink, when half of a google search of images from EVERY VERSION FROM 1977-2004 HAS RED SABERS?!

It's just incomprehensible to me.

It's cinematic inbreeding. The shot in ROTS is supposed to rip off that scene in ESB, and then they change that scene in ESB to make it look like the one in ROTS.

I hat to bring this up again, but that new trailer made me sad and angry; it just continues to shove in my face that the real versions of the movies will be nowhere on the set, and yet we have this crap that only rubs salt into our wounds.

It only comes across as a rip-off because it isn't done well.

If it had been Lucas could have legitimately had used his 'rhyme' argument.

In ESB Vader (the villain) really has Luke in a corner and he tells Luke the truth to lure him to the Dark Side.

In ROTS Mace (a supposedly heroic character) has been duped into seeming to have Palpatine in a corner to prop up a lie to lure Anakin to the Dark Side.

Clever visual mirroring in a trilogy with strong performances, of interesting characters, in compelling stories.

In a trilogy with wooden performances, of leaden non-characters, in confused and boring stories it just comes across as a lack of originality.

It's no great source for color, but the VideoCollector ESB boot shows some of both:  The problem seems to be one side is saying certain shots should be x,y,z and the other side isn't debating that point, they're expanding the issue into this uniformity thing.

- Red -

- Pink -

- Red -

- Pinkishier -

- Pink -

So back then they used either one setting which interacted with the backgrounds or they thought how the lightsaber's blade would look different in various lighting schemes and now they've decided to make the colors uniform.  One seems more realistic the other less so.

Still waiting for the black Force Beam:

But maybe Force Beams are orange:

My Force Beam (eighth birthday present from Gamley's) was 'red' but looked orange enough to convince a terrified girl at my birthday party that it was a bar from an electric fire I was whirling around, the added fact that I was dressed up in my Dracula costume probably didn't help sooth her nerves.

My uncle's girlfriend sat on it, bent it and made the end pop off which is possibly a factor in my preference for members of the same gender.

What's more she had a green one six years before they became canon.

The uniform application of hue distortions do make the claims back in 97 of every element being restored and digitally re-composited laughable.

It's hard to have a member preference for a memberless gender.

Eitherway both sides suck (life force), just like Star Wars.

...but when things suck, Vader will offer you a candy cane.

Is Macabob Toys still around? And did anyone notice they shamelessly traced over the figure of Luke that graced the corner of every cover of Marvel's Star Wars comic?
